Won a set of Bridgestone's what size?

Hey guys
I was involved in a silent auction and I won a gift certificate from Bridgestone for any size, any brand set of tires.

I am almost 100% certain I want the RE-01R's and I will buy another set of wheels for them and only in 17in.

What size would you guys recommend 245, 255?

or is there another bridgestone tire I should pay attention to?
Thnx

are you going to put them on your stock rims?

What type of driving do you do? Do you do any HPDEs or AutoX? Drag race?

If you're going to buy new wheels for these new tires (which I think is what you said above) then I would suggest getting 17x9 and you'll definitely want 255s.

Good luck!

You're on the right track with the RE-01R's. I just got them and I LOVE them! We need to know your wheel size and suspension set-up before we can recommend sizes.

Wheel size can be what ever, like i said i will buy dedicated wheels for these tires. Eventually I will run an upgraded suspension but for now think of this as a completely stock evo with yet to be determined wheel width (ideally no spacers and no fender rolling). Since im getting a set of tires for basically the price of 1 i can spend a little more on wheels, maybe 9 - 9.5?

whats the tread wear of the RE-01's

Or, here is another idea if you don't NEED new tires for your Evo

Keep your current tires.

Get the RE-01s in 235/45/17 or 255/35/18 and sell them on EvoM. Those are two of the most popular tire sizes for Evo owners. You would sell them in heartbeat and could pocket the money

what you gonna do with them? between 245 and 255, I will pick 255.

depends on the size. some are 140A A, some are 180A A. here are the specs on all the sizes:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...irePageLocQty=

for example, it looks like the 235/40ZR17 would work better than the 235/45ZR17 because it is 2lbs lighter. it also has the better treadwear making it a lil stickier. if i was getting a deal like the OP's i would get these or the RE050A's which are 24lbs in the same size 235/40/ZR17 but the tread width on those is .3" narrower than the RE-01R's...

I am going to drive on them {thumbup}
honestly I am going to do 90% summer only street driving with 1 or 2 hotlapping on the open days we have out here

I'd probably go 255/40 on a 17x9 wheel. I don't think you'll need to roll the fenders sticking with that size.

+1 ... 255/40/17 tire and 17x9 rim 35 - 40 mm offset. Minimal splash gaurd rubbing under full lock and no fender rolling required.

theblue Dec 28, 2007 10:32 AM

yeah, 17x9 or 18x9 with 255 wide

Onyxeros Dec 28, 2007 01:09 PM

255's it is, thanks guys

housedj Dec 28, 2007 01:47 PM

if u get the RE-01R's in a 255/40ZR17 they weigh 28lbs. if u get them in a 255/35ZR18, they weigh 27lbs. ur choice
