Swift lowering springs

I have been seeing a lot of people using these and was just wondering what the ride is like on stock 8 shocks. Also how much can i expect the ride to improve with the MR Bilstiens? Thanks!{thumbup}

I went from VIII stockers to coilovers to Bilsteins w/ Swifts. The last setup is definitly my favorite for a daily driver {thumbup}

I heard bilstiens and spec r swifts are the best combo..That's what I'm getting soon.

The Bilstein's are a huge upgrade over the KYB's when it comes to ride quality. You almost can't even compare the two...

John,

Check out (advance search with my screen name). I tested both Sports and SpecRs (track and AX duty too). If you have any questions shoot me a PM.

There is a reason so many people run the Swift (and GTWorx) springs.

I am sure the bilsteins are a nicer DD ride, but just for a reference point... I have an VIII (which is a DD) with Spec Rs on the stock KYBs, and I think the ride quality is fine... not noticably harsher than the stock ride in my opinion...

Bear in mind, that's just my take, and I have a high tolerance for a stiff ride, but overall, I think the ride is no "worse" than the stock ride (comfort-wise).

I actually installed Bilstein HD shocks with Swift springs today and the ride improvement over stock Kyb is really good. A very noticeable difference. Handling feels improved as well, but I did not push it much because I need to get an alignment later in the week.

Highly recommended!

Try the GTWORX springs then. Much more of a mild drop with firmer rates than Swift sports.

i run spec-r's on kyb's. The ride is pretty good. Somewhat harsh, but i believe most of that comes from the kyb's rather than the spring rate. Body roll is greatly reduced.

of course, i have a set of bilsteins being rebuilt at the moment. You are eventually going to want an improved damper.

I read through Smike's literary work too, good stuff. Went with Swift specR for my 9 MR Bilsteins. I did Whiteline F and R bars first, then the springs. Love it, but haven't really gotten the chance to try them out on my favorite roads yet since I just got them on. But for dd it's a bit stiffer but I like it. And the corners I have taken, big improvement. But I'm not the suspension guru like other guys here so I'm no good for detailed reviews. Thanks for all your work on the reviews Smike, it helped me a ton.

Here is a picture of the front, lowered a lot compared to stock but not as low as I thought it would be. Which I know that isn't a bad thing, I don't want it too low. It might settle in to what I'd call perfect ride height but I'm not complaining if it stays where it's at. Pic taken after about 200 miles of driving. Rear ride height is perfect, a little lower than stock which is what i was hoping for.

Any Scraping going on with the sport machs?

anexiole Aug 29, 2010 10:04 PM

With new springs, would it be possible that one side of the car would be lower than the other?

My friend's Evo 9 with bilstein seems to have different ride heights at the rear (difference of 1cm).
Is this normal?
