18x9.5 Rota Grid tires and offset
 

Hey guys, I'm looking at picking up a set of Rota Grids. 18x9.5 I would like as wide of a tire as I can go and the most aggressive offset I can run. I'd like to avoid rubbing as much as possible (that noises like that annoy me). Like will it rub with people in the car etc? I have no problem with rolling my fenders. If I can, I'd like to be able to rotate my tires. Not a must but it's a plus. If I have to get spaces and upgrade bolt studs/lugs I will do so.

For instance, 18x9.5 +22 offset w\ 285/35 or 285/30's? Would that work? What can I get away with here? Can I have a more aggressive offset like a +18? What will rub and what won't? I'd be okay with a 275 or 265, of course a wider tire is better.

+22 w/ a 285 certainly wouldnt fit my stock body EVO 9. Im rolled & pulled w/ bumper bolt relocation.

When I say fit, I mean your rear wheel/tire assy should be able to float fully into the rear well w/ no rub. Fitting aggressive wheels/ tires doesnt mean running out of spec camber or raising your coilovers JMO

That is how I feel. I don't want to put some crazy camber so I can fit tires/wheels.

^^^You've got the right perspective

Who ever helps you fit your wheel & tire assy, you need to strive to achieve a full suspension stroke.
Remove the rear strut & articulate the assy fully through the suspension stroke & ensure no rub. Any form of rub can not be accepted

+35 to +38 would be the best bet.

i got the same tires rota grids same size i too had to roll the back fenders so they can fit
im runnin -2 camber

What specs are your grids?


I just read that R/TErnie makes end links etc.. He has succesfuly fit 295's and he is upgrading his rims from 10" to 10.5" on the stock body.

I am looking at running an autocross setup with 18x9.5 rotas with 285/30/18. Sounds like the +35 setup is the way to go with a spacer in front.

Are they charging for the full use of the rimsntire calculator?

After talking with R/TErnie I'm going to be running 18x10 +38 w/ 295/30. Reading his posts, he said on a 295 the tire was pretty wide on a 10" rim. I feel that a 10" would be perfect for a 285 rather than a 9.5.



Here is R/TErnies setup:

On a 8/9

20mm spacer up front
No spacer in the rear

Coilovers required

Removal of fender liners required

Hammering pinch welds required.

Depending on tire (285's and larger R comps) require a 6" spring up front
Under 285 size tires do no require a 6" spring.

Roll the front fenders
Evo Dave mod and run 2 degrees of camber... or No fender mod and run 3.5 degrees with a 295 wide tire as shown.

The rear has a minor roll job. I didn't come close to rolling the rears flat. No pulling in the rear at all.

Anyone interested in a group buy for some 18x10 +38 Rota Grids from Wheeldude? I only need 1-2 people/person.

Eric's (R/TErnie) evo was parked next to mine and his 305 tires made my 245 look tiny.... :( He's definitely the man to talk to about this stuff!{thumbup}

my rims are 18x9.5 but my tires are 245/40r/18

If the price is right I may be interested, PM with some prices!

I know some the mustang guys in stock class are squeezing 295/30/18's on their 18x8 rims. I am using the poor mans approach and looking at 18x9.5's that are more common and a little cheaper to run a 285/30/18.
