is there a difference between these and a Manual boost controller? besides the electronic features? is there any performance differences i should look out for? And how is the user friendly interface? it is easy to use?

I would not recommend the manual boost controller. The difference is not only the user friendly interface and electronic features, the electronic boost controller will hold better the boost and the spikes, I do not know how will you that with the manual boost controller. In this case for an affordable solution I will suggest the Greddy Profec B spec II boost controller.
