EVO X Tuned by DTM (ECU Flash, Boost Pill, Intake)

Hello all... I just wanted to post some results for my car using ECUFLASH. The dotted line on DYNO CHART 1 represents a stock car with the wastegate turned twice. I wish I would have not modified the watsegate before my first dyno to get a true stock baseline, but oh well. The solid line represents an ETS intake, wastegate turned twice and a GST boost pill. I must say that after the addition of the GST Boost Pill the boost held steady at 24 pounds or so slowly dropping down a few PSI at redline (I have to do a recording of the boost gauge to see or log). We ran out of time to tune (I needed to leave), but there is more power to be had, just on another day.

Next up is the Ultimate Racing 02/Downpipe Combo and a Greddy Ti-C. Additionally, I will be attaching a Stage 2 DTM intercooler, with a pull coming with the stock intercooler and with the DTM.

DYNO CHART 2 shows the base tune up that I had previous to this more recent one, again I ran out of time to tune further on that one..

For those who want numbers it is at the bottom of each sheet, but I prefer to look at the curve. Any questions are welcome, I will answer if I can.

Thanks Nick and Jason, you took car of my IX and now my X.

I never messed with the wastegate and my car held boost all the way from 27 psi droping to 20 psi by 6.7 k and down to 16 psi by the end of the run. I would like to see a boost chart for your car.

When I was saying I was holding boost I meant it was staying fairly close to a given number. From what you just said you car does a 11 psi swing by the end of your run. The boost pill is what is allowing me to hold my boost at a given target for longer, not necessarily the wastegate.

I would like to see a boost chart as well, but the dyno I used does not have the function built into it. I am hoping something like evoscan can log it or allow me to use the output wire on my AEM boost gauge to get a reading. I need to do more research on it as I do not know much about my logging options besides PCMscan. If I cannot get it to work then I will just hook up my video camera and use that as my logger. =)

See my car only drops 7 psi in the power band and 11psi over the hole pull but that is expected as a turbo pushes more through it. But I have see people getting after market waistgates and I have no problem with mine holding. I would like to see a graph with a boost pill and see how much it looses and how fast. It is expected that you will loose boost over a pull but how much?

I really doubt that your boost is holding to 24 psi by redline even with the boost pill. 20 psi is possible, but not 24 psi.

You are correct not all the way, like i said, I am eyeballing it. My point is that boost remains stable for a longer time frame than before.

Next time you come down lets have the dyno log your boost and we can plot it against your curve.

It holds 21-22 psi at redline according to the AEM on the dyno. I will plot it next time. Just really didn't think of it and D didn't know it was possible on the machine.

Considering that this turbo is smaller than a Evo 9 turbo on the cold side, do you think that the turbo is effecient running 21-22 psi by redline? I am just asking becuase I do not know.

Just because the inducer is smaller numerically does not mean the turbo is more or less efficient then its counterpart.
Until Someone (like me maybe) actually measures outlet airtemp above one bar, and saturation temp in the intake manifold we will really be speculating on the efficiency issue.
I will tell you that normally we have seen linear increases in torque and WHP up to 24 psi on this turbo. After 25 psi the STOCK system as a whole needs help cooling the air charge.

So I really cannot answer your question because we do not have definitive data to support a valid answer at this time.
