I am trying to figure out what was causing the ignition breakup we were experiencing in the higher rpm with higher (>32) boost. Plug gap was reduced to .017 to try to help, but did not fix it.

you should try getting some new and stronger coil packs like okada plasma direct or something else maybe even get colder plugs? holding spark is a big issue with alot of power

Okadas are worthless.

The only thing worthwhile is sparktech but no one buys that even on the X because its usually not necessary.

The stock X ignition is very very good. I ran up to 40psi at .022 gap with no issues. I would honestly think its something else before I assumed ignition. A new set of plugs is a cheaper check too.

Okadas don't make anything worse, just nothing better. They are a waste. We already have a COP system and okadas don't make a stronger spark.

Yes sparktech is expensive but its a stronger spark. I would love to get it but don't have extra money laying around. Maybe bonus time at work. Also with sparktech we wouldn't have to run such tight gaps.

I had a SparkTech Pro system on my Evo 8 and it was an amazing system. When I build my Evo X to that caliber its going to get one as well. I highly recommend it! Nothing like 40psi, e85, and a plug gap of .026 without any blowout.

A few of us figured out how to run the prius coils that come with the spoolinup kit for the 8/9 on the X...I have a set and pics of how to do it if you wanna give it a try (but do try a new set of plugs first!).

PM me.

Sounds good. My plugs only had ~500 miles on them and looked fine.

Somone also recommended adding some more timing. Mine is less than factory right now I believe. I just told my tuner I didnt want a real high peak torque to save my single disc clutch for a while.

Also would an oil leak from a valve seal affect the ignition?

Ya that single clutch isn't gonna hang in there long.. I've killed off single ACT's back when I had the stock turbo... your beating it like its a red headed step child 3 x's removed
