hmmm... my antenna seems to be working fine. Does yours happen when your around a lot of trees or mountains where the signal or reception is weak? or just any where?

don't know if it's the same one as the 8/9, but this site says it's for the X and that's what I ordered. Works just fine...

Picked up the Perrin 4" shortie and it's awesome. Really looks sweet on the car.

No reception issues either so i'm happy. imho the 2" would have been too short lol.

I have the Rexpeed carbon fiber antenna. Perfect fit, no reception problems.

Probably a simple answer to this...BUT....what is the clip trick? Just scissors? Anything need to be sealed or treated after you cut it? Any point that you can't cut below?

I used something more heavy duty than just scissors. Try wire cutters. I didnt have to seal or treat anything. The only thing I did was color in the tip with a black sharpie. It makes the most sense to cut where the thin part of the antenna meets the thick part. Its fairly obvious if you look at the antenna up close. The antenna just screws right on and off. I cut mine while it was off the car. Just easier than trying to lean over the car.

Thanks. That took all of 5 seconds and 4 of them were finding my wire cutters. I'll post if there is any loss in reception on my way to work.

UPDATE: Barely any noticeable loss in reception (a little scratchy every once in a while), but I live close enough to Denver that the signal is relatively strong. I'd imagine the further out I would get the quicker I would lose the signal versus the OEM antenna. That's what CDs (and Sirius if you have it) are for though.

UPDATE #2: After a week or two I have started to notice some deterioration around town, but even more when I'm up in the mountains. Before I could go about 10 miles up the canyon before I started to lose reception, now its more like 1 mile....but I can live with that.

My Perrin 4" is in the mail. I don't anticipate reception loss but I will report back either way.

I use a Perrin 2" antenna and my reception is fine. Didn't notice a big difference from stock.
