Alpine or Pioneer DVD player?

I'm in a dilemma, I'm not sure if I should get the Alpine IVA-D106 or the Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD. Both are single din motorized touchscreens. Alpine is a little more, but price isn't much of an issue. The reason I'm considering Alpine is that it is more reputable (Pioneer also but I just like Alpine better). However, the Alpine interface design isn't very appealing compared to the Pioneer. Both are able to play music/video through iPod but can not display album artwork (which I really really want). I want to order this within a couple of days but then I want to wait if they'll have album artwork feature soon.

I would look at double din units. They just look a lot better in my opinion. But if its gotta be a single din, I'd say either alping or Pioneer is gonna be a good way to go. Good luck either way!

well working both at best buy and at circuit city as an installer, and working with both equipment. alpine is going to give you a little cleaner audio, but interfaces are not as good as pioneer's. dont get me wrong, the pioneer is still a really good unit. one of my coworkers has that screen and loves it. its all on you.

Alpine's audio clarity and quality much exceeds any other aftermarket head unit. It's audio customization is untouched by other brands. I've had many HU and when I finally went with an Alpine, I never got anything else.

alpine for SQ, pioneer for UI.

I owned both in my other cars, so all depends. if i was to get one for my evo it would be a pioneer double din.

Yeah that was one of the major factors why I didn't go straight with the Alpine off the back

Thanks for all the input guys, it seems like most are going with Pioneer as it is better overall. I'll keep doing my research, any input on the Album Artwork compatibility?

My Pioneer D3 doesn't show the album art. I'm not sure about the new F-series or Alpines though.

I was deciding between the Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD and the Kenwood DDX-512, but I went with the kenwood for looks and options. I'm happy with my kenwood! Now I need to add a back-up camera and some navigation to my unit.

depends on options in either...i know with alpine HU, you are limitied as far as equalizer settings and audio output...unless you buy this extra part for 5 low payments of 99.99....

where as pioneer has all theoptoins in the HU...now with there dvd players. i'm unsure.....just see what features each offer and make a decision...would also help if you put up specific models, and if u did....sorry..i'm to lazy to read
