Remote Starter for Evo X GSR

Has anybody installed or had installed a remote starter for a Evo X GSR? This feature would be really nice and I was wondering if anyone on the forum would have some information on this. If so, what brand/model device and what is involved to make everything work?

I have an AstroFlex Alarm with an AstroStart Remote Starter. It is great! Had it installed a couple weeks after I got my X GSR. I did it through my dealer, probably paid extra, so that I don't void the electrical warranty. I paid 1k but that was for the full two way alarm fully loaded alarm. Being a stick shift before I turn the car off I have to go through a sequence to engage the remote start. with the doors closed I have to have my foot on the brake and pull the ebrake fully, twice in a row. Then I will see a light start flashing to tell me it is engaged and ready to use.

Here is a link to their website http://astroflex.com/

Hope this helps!

You might want to take a look at the compustar pro's that are made for manual. Make sure you get a well qualified installer that is the most important part.

Thanks a bunch for the info! A couple questions though. Do you have the FAST key system? If so, do you have to carry around 2 remotes?

Yes I do and yes I do. Also have to keep them separated as they conflict with one another.

Have the proper wire mounts come out for the Evo's yet? Are they available in Canada?

Read my post #2. There is a sequence you have to go through that is assuring the car that it is not in gear. I have not tried to remote start my car in gear and have no plans to either.

I paid $1k for the fully featured 2 way alarm system + remote start but I went through the dealer to keep my warranty in tact well from an electrical standpoint anyway .

i just got my compustar pro installed it works awesmoe it has turbo timer built in the system so its great for my x and the sexuence is very easy to engage the remote start there are no flashes to tell you if your remote starter is engaged if you go with the two way it will tell you on the remote if it is working and if your turbo timer is set then your car will stay running for the desired time go compustar i think its one of the best on the market

Anyone know how much a system like this with the turbo timer costs and what dealer installation costs? What is the safeguard to ensure that the car isn't in gear? My XGF put her car through a dealership window when she started it remotely after I left it in gear. Won't make that mistake again.

Astro start uses a pair of lasers under the shifter boot with a pair of receivers on the base. When the shifter is in the middle the channel is closed and the car is allowed to start.

That way the remote starter knows where the gear shifter actually is. If for whatever reason the shifter was moved at a later time, it will not start.
