Where to mount GPS antenna?

i'm going to be installing my D3 this weekend. it comes with an antenna to mount on the dash...with external antennas i usually unmount the a-pillar, and run the antenna from under the dash to the top. but the evo's a-pillar has an airbag...is it possible to unmount without triggering it? if not, what would be a good way to run the antenna up from under the dash to the top of the dash?

I have a Z2 in my X and just left the GPS antennae under the dash, a little behind and towards the left of the radio.

Have yet to have issues with reception and no ugly antennae (small as it may be) cluttering up the interior.

Did this on my Z06 as well with the same results.

Hope this helps.

Under the dash. That is what I did with my carputer setup. I placed it where the factory GPS antenna would be with the Navi option.

If you're really worried about the airbag going off, just make sure your battery is disconnected.

You should do this anyway if you're installing electrical stuff, including audio equipment.

When you pull out the OEM head unit, you will find a small metal plate on the underside of the dash. This is where the OEM GPS sensor mounts.

I have the Z2 and I mounted the antenna right on the unit. So far so good.
