anyone else with an MR have this problem?

occasionally when i start my car, the nav boots up and does its normal thing. then when i try to use the audio controls on the steering wheel, the buttons are all mixed up. i always hoped that if my car were possessed, it would like go out and run over my foes... this is just annoying.

volume up: BT voice command
volume down: track up
track up: volume up
track down: volume up
mode: volume down

the BT and cruise control buttons work normally though.

is there a reboot/reset button somewhere that i don't know about?

Never happen to mine, everything works perfectly! What about have your dealer check it out?

glad to hear you're not having problems.

i am going to take it in, but wanted to possibly see if anyone else had this issue. living in northern california, i've found it difficult to find a dealership with a reputable history in servicing evos. taking it down scm would be what i want to do, but still a month away since i don't go down as often. that is why this thread was started.

I think those controls connect to a harness under the cup holder. I wonder if the harness is backwards or if the wires aren't connected to the right pins. It doesn't make any sense how that could happen, though. I think there is a thread in the audio section where a guy installed the bluetooth himself. He detailed those connections under the cup holder. Check that out or just ride it out until you can get to SCM.

Edit: Actually, that post is on another evox_forum. I can't give you the link cause they'll censor it, but the post is called
HOW TO: Installing factory Bluetooth into Evo X GSR

Weird that it happens intermittently. Sounds like a faulty connection at one of the wiring harnesses (probably the one inside the steering wheel). See what the dealer can figure out. Good luck.

thanks.

that is the thing that gets me too. i start the car, system boots up, winds up not working properly. wait a few minutes while i'm driving and try it again... it works! weird, but it seems to happen more often when the weather is warmer. also, the reason why i ask if anyone knows of a reset/reboot button/method for the mmcs.

cheers.

Oh, I missed your 'occasionally'. I swapped out the MMCS long ago and don't know how to reset, or if there is one. Maybe try disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds.
