Navigation update dvd

I want to get updated NAV maps, but I'm worried it will automatically update my NAV version and therefore prevent me from playing videos while driving.

Has anyone (that can view video while driving) updated their NAV maps, if so, can you chime in.

And I thought that the maps on the latest update were the same as the prior ones with updated HOV lane information.

The maps, the direction sound files, the HOV/POI database, the graphics screen icons, etc. in addition to the NAV executable program (the portion that gets the in-motion hack) are all updated same time. And the music CDDB database.

but if it fails i can downgrade it back so it works anyway
If you desire to do this, you must image the drive before the upgrade install. There is no way to "install" an earlier version or to remove the upgrade (it ain't a Windows patch).

No. The sound/music CDs you have recorded to the music server will live through the upgrade.

The CDDB database is a single file that gets updated that contains the names v signatures of the music files so it can display what you're currently playing - instead of Unknown".

Is the disc from mitsu the only way to update the nav? Its $172 from mitsubishiparts.net. Thats rediculous!

we should do a group buy and then copy the dvd. This way we all get the update and not have to pay such a horrible fee.

The Update DVD also updates CDDB or can you do that seperately? I agree the price for "updated" maps after paying 2k for the Nav is extreme. I think my map version said it was from 2006?

It comes with a key and can only be installed once. I bought it and it only updates you to 2007, so definitely not worth the money.

Wow, what a rip off. All these NAV companies need to make a standard format so the most up to date database is always available for everyone.

I'm waiting for an in-car Google Maps setup that will single-handedly destroy the market. Everything else looks so low quality now...

Yah I hear you there . Only problem with that is you'd need a constant internet connection. That's a tough one.
