audio problem on stock non-rockford stereo

Not sure if any of you have this problem.. but when I put in a CD, sound only comes out of the right side. The radio works fine, and I've also tried a whole mess of CD's to make sure it wasn't the cause.

Can anyone give me some insight for an easy fix? Or is this something I need to battle out at the dealership..?

That's weird that something like that would only happen with the CD source and not the radio source. Might sound dumb, but maybe check the fader/balance setting while on CD (press in on lower right-hand knob several times, and turn knob to adjust).. it's possible that each source has independent stored settings (ie, treble +5 on radio and treble +2 on CD). Or.. by going into the settings, as described above, I think there's a "reset" setting to restore factory defaults.

Just some ideas, though. My non-RF stereo's factory bluetooth only works out of the right-side speakers.. not sure if that's by design, or something similar to yours.

Good luck!

ETA: Nevermind.. although it wouldn't hurt to try my suggestions, it looks like this might be a common issue (link).

Yeah what you mentioned was the first thing I tried. I thought it was the audio controls that were messed around with, but it's just a faulty headunit.

Thanks anyway!

Funny that you mention this.
I just bought a replacement head unit (Boss) for my X and when I put it in I get proper audio when playing CDs/MP3s, but when I switch to radio (AM or FM) I only get sound from the front right speaker.

I am thinking that there is a connection issue inside of the head unit, but then the X is funny in that the stock radio has so many cables plugged into it (two cables plus the radio antenna.) The main plug (forget how many pins) on the back left (when viewing unit from the front) and another plug on the right with fewer pins. My head unit (with Metra's Evo X cable harness) only plugs into the larger left harness.

I am not sure if the right harness does anything or is only meant for the Nav upgrade. There is actually yet another cable harness in the back (blue) that I know is used for the Nav in some way, but that is irrelevant as it was not hooked up in the first place.

I called the place where I bought the head unit and they say that it is weird, but could be an internal connection in the head unit.

Please let us know how/when you get it fixed and what the issue was.

This exact thing happened to me too. CD's only played out of the right speaker, but the radio worked fine. Just replaced it all with an Eclipse deck and I'm much happier.

My stock headunit actually stopped doing this for some odd reason. I went over a long bumpy road the other day and it's been working 100% ever since. Go figure...

Hope you guys have had some luck, or went out and got it replaced.. it was f*cking annoying.
