Stock Radio Questions: Not Fosgate

I have an Evo X with the stock radio system and Bluetooth Phone Integration
I DO NOT have the optional tech package with the Rockford Fosgate Amp setup.

Questions:
1) If I replace the head unit, will the bluetooth phone system still work? How is the wiring for that done? Do I need to do anything special?

2) Is the car wired for an amplifier? Do I need to run my own preamp wires to the Trunk?

3) Will the steering wheel controls still function with an aftermarket head unit?

4) Is there anything else special that I should know about before doing this?

Thanks!

Gullie

I have the same setup, and from what I've gathered so far...

1) In order to retain use of bluetooth, you'd have to purchase a head-unit that has built-in bluetooth and the PAC SWI-PS (link), that will allow use of the bluetooth steering wheel controls. For wiring the SW1-PS you can read the PDF manual here (link). Also, the PAC SW1-xx has different models, and I'm not yet 100% sure what the differences are.

2) Not 100% sure on this, but I don't think the non-RF setup has any amplifiers other than the one built-in to the HU. Car is probably still wired for an amp located under the seat, which would require quite a bit of splicing, otherwise you'd have to run RCAs to the amp's location.

3) The PAC SW1-xx allows use of both bluetooth and audio controls on the steering wheel.

4) Think wiring up an amp will be the toughest part.. but at least there's a few threads around here that desribe the process.
