New owner question about OEM Nav/40GB unit

I have another 6 months before I get to actually touch my Evo ( I'm still in Japan), but had a question about the OEM Nav unit/40GB. I know that it downloads from CDs, but are iPODs able to firectly upload into the HD, or is their an aux in type deal. Any link to the actual Specs and info about the unit would be great. Thanks.

it's just aux cable, so you can't control the ipod from the stereo, only the actual ipod itself.

I know this all sounds newby, but I have been in Japan for about 2 and a half years. I can still connect the ipod to the unit though. Thats good enough for me. No having to buy one of those plug in units for the cigarette lighter. Also, can I upload songs into the drive from the ipod?

Nope you cant u have to buy a cigarette charger unit to connect the ipod for charging and then u must have a 3.5mm to rca adaptor. or you can go threw apple and get a ipod to rca adaptor but you will not be able to charge it. you will not be able to control anything but the volume with the car, everything must be done on the ipod or iphone.

that is fine by me. i just don't want to have to use 88.5 FM to hear my iPod.
