Help choosing a Dash Kit

I've read the threads criticizing the Metra and the Scosche dash kits; I don't want to spend hundreds on the JDM dash; are there any other options or recommendations?

I am flexible as to single/double DIN because I haven't picked out a head unit yet. . .

Thanks!

So you do not have any panel gaps, the plastic looks good, etc?

It's not "perfect", but it's hard to tell any gaps exist unless you're really picky & constantly looking for them

check my signature for a pic of mine.. not the largest picture, but you get the idea.. my unit extends/opens down & outward, no problems with rubbing or anything

Thanks for the pic - looks like a clean fit. I'm not ocd about it, just don't want something that looks/fits cheap.

scosche is what i have. from input on some members here, the gaps are not like those canyons from a metra kit.

The Scosche is pretty good for the money. The opening is exactly double din and the finish is pretty close to the stock plastics. The only real issue is that for some reason they didn't exactly match it level with the top of the dash leaving what looks to be like a small gap. It's not terrible but it kind of ruins what would have been nearly a perfect kit for the price.

The jdm has the best fitiment and colour match but it's not perfect either in that it's very expensive and the opening is larger than double din so if your deck doesn't come with a trim ring (Sony, Pioneer for example) it looks kind of unfinished. Pioneers for example don't and the optional kit won't fit. I know this because I've done the install for someone. Alpine (what I have) trim rings fit barely.

Don't even bother with the Metra kit as it's 100% pure garbage. IMO they should be ashamed of themselves for even selling a kit that fits as poorly as it does.

both scosche and metra kits have noticeable gaps, but scosche does theirs WAY better, and uses factory ISO brackets for a much stronger hold. if you don't want to go with JDM then go with scosche.

I too would go with the Scosche. I have the Metra and it does indeed have a HUGE gap at the top.

read this : https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...night-day.html

Spend the extra money for the JDM. I wasted a few bucks on the mentra.
