Strange video in issue on aftermarket unit driving me nuts
Hello.
I'm hoping for some feedback on what kind of problem this could be and what I can do except changing head unit.. (If my only option is to exchange the headunit, then so be it, but hopefully not)
I'm setting up a car pc (laptop) in my car, and everything is set up except for the screen. I'm not going pure car pc cause of alot of reasons and I will use the PC primarily for music together with my great Terratec 6fire USB unit.
Ok so here we go..
I have two Ebay head units, one of the brand Xtrons and the other Erising (The one currently in the car).
Yes China stuff. Don't flame me just yet cause everything else works great
Anyway..
My laptop has S-Video out (and DVI) and both the units got RCA video in.
I have a S-Video > RCA (Composite) adapter which I'm using together with a RCA cable.
It works on the Xtrons (Both units got Windows CE 5) unit without a problem.
Doing the same on my Erising unit gives me nothing. The laptop can't sense any other screens are connected.
The really weird thing is that my original iPod/iPhone dock connector > RCA works perfectly. I get video on the Erising when playing a youtube movie.
I'm not using the Xtrons cause it's got inferior resolution on the screen and no GPS/Digital TV so I can't just use that one instead.
I'm really stumped by this and have e-mailed the seller but I figure I could post here too and see if you got any ideas..
