Stock navi dash gap (after removal of MMCS)

I was thinking of selling my MMCS and if i install another double din, there will be a gap on the sides. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

The OEM JDM piece is double-DIN and looks nice. But it's expensive ($300-ish). There are non-OEM knockoffs of varying quality. Search "double DIN" in this forum and you will pics and prices of various solutions.

I'd personally go OEM JDM. I've seen people who went non-OEM say they later regretted it, but have yet to someone say they regretted spending the extra $$.

(Man, non-standard dash panels. Key remotes that have to be reprogrammed for a fee when the battery dies. I'm on my second Evo, but Mitsubishi is going to have to work to convince me to buy another of their products. Are you listening Mitsubishi?)

You can also fill this area with a larger trim piece..

that looks great... much better looking than either the Schoche or Metra kit.

a few questions if you dont mind?

#1 - what did you use to center/locate the head unit? my first thought was to get the cheapest DD kit (metra) and just use the mounting tabs, but I am curious what you used

#2 - What material did you use to fill the gap? brushed aluminum would look nice, but the textured ABS/Plastic would look even better.

#3 - how did you mount the material in the gap?

Thanks! Looks great!

Hi. On my photo the original frame of Mitsubishi for radio tape recorders of the size of 2 DIN is presented. It is made in China. The price in Russia about 60 dollars.

Very nice. Do you have a part number by chance? On a long road trip and viewing on my phone, so I have limited ability to view pictures clearly (if the part number is in that pic, I can't see it)

Thanks!!

Those pics aren't mine, they were posted by Salukidude..

Couldn't find any more info on how he did his Clarion install, but I did find his Photobucket album with more pics, if that helps at all..

Sorry about the confusion!
