Horn going off when reconnecting battery?

Hi all -

I had the battery, in the trunk (positive and negative) disconnected and removed, however when I attempt to reconnect the terminals, the car horn is staying on constant and flashers are going off.

I connected positive first, then when connecting the negative, the horn goes crazy and the indicators flash.

Suggestions?

I swear I'm not stupid... that was the car telling me I had the battery in backwards...

I was connecting positive to negative and vice versa....

It's been a long day installing coil springs.
