i dont think anyone is sure yet considering its the first year in production. we are all hoping. but if you do some searches on the forums you will see alot of mr with tranny overheating problems thankfully companies like ams are working on a trans oil cooler kit. i know i saw some more companies working on it to, but nobody is sure when it will be released. that is why im not modding my mr till after winter for me

We'll be working on a higher HP rate internal parts kit for the MR tranny in the near future . We're also very sure at least one other vendor here will be doing the same so I'm sure one of us will soon have something ready .

I don't remember seeing or reading anything about the internals (gears) being weak. The problem(s) as I understand 'em are, nobody has yet figured out how to re-program the shift mapping so it keeps up with the high(er) horsepower. What good is an auto-shifting trans if it doesn't shift when you need it to? Next one would be the over-heating. People have reported the thing over-heating under track and/or other heavy use situations. This may be dealt with by an external cooler, etc... but I don't know enough about it. The last item as I understand it is the clutches aren't supposed to be able to hold anything 350-crank hp(take away 15%- 20% and you'll get your wheel-hp. Sad..really), and new clutches are apparently take-a-second-on-your-house expensive. All 3 are serious enough to require attention before you really bump your power up. Run a search on here and you should be able to come up with a lot of info. Actually, maybe you shoulda run a search before you bought the thing..I KID I KID ! It's a great car, and when they get the teething problems solved, I'm willing to bet it turns quicker lap times than the GSR.
One more... and I can't believe this could be true: Apparently when you left-foot brake (which is the best way to drive that trans), the fuggin thing automatically back-shifts or does some other whacky thing, that (while I can't remember what it was, I remember it being really really stupid on Mitsu's part) totally disrupts your driving. Once again, run a search. You'll see what it is.

Forget the HKS blowoff valve. It's one of the worst BOV's for our cars. Especially if you're not gonna recirculate. As far as the wastegate goes, ours are internal. The wastegate actuator can be changed. Forge and Jun make upgraded ones.

They don't really make "headers" for our cars either. You could upgrade your exhaust manifold, but I doubt anyone makes one yet. What you want to do is upgrade your O2 housing, downpipe, high flow cat or test pipe, and catback.

You may find the transmision slips... i just had my car tuned and it's holding up pretty well but i keep reading horror stories of people blowing their motors upon reaching the 380's and 390's so just be careful and ask your tuner for honest answers.... ask around other tuners as well???
