Its cold and dry beware of static

For everyone out there that is hooking up the openport cable(any cable really) to your car, beware of static when attempting to hook the cable up.

I was hooking the cable up to do some logging with pcmscan. I reached under the dash to feel where to plug the cable in and I got an arch off of my hand to the obd port. It seems the ecu puts itself into a protection mode if it senses a static shock and the car would not recognize the fast key or the valet key until I unplugged and replugged the battery.

Hold onto metal while you exit the car. No zapping.
