Which one is better in your opinion UFO??Or maybe the question should be, which are you most satisfied with???...I'm thinking of ditching the z-chip and going to the Cobb AP or ECUflash....

Thanks.

Actually it wasn't late .. it was just that alot more people are investing in R&D on the newer platform ..

The ECUflash for Evo VIII/IX's was released 2 years after the VIII's came out .. the only people that could do it was ECUTek then ..

On the X .. it was about 8 months beta release and about 1 year for the full release ..

I'd say this time round alot more people are hopping on the bandwagon earlier ..

Even then, the initial momentum is almost simliar to the VIII/IX .. alot of discussions, no tuning tools, little understanding of the ROMs ..

We just need the critical mass .. and more developers to disassemble the roms ..
and your predictions won't be far off

Z-Chip makes more power according to the butt dyno: 2nd gear is brutal. However, floor it in 1st or 2nd and the check ASC light comes on. Every time. Cobb AP might not make as much power but it's been trouble free since switching and thrown no codes. There's a reason the Z-Chip's sat in the box .

Currently running the Cobb AP with Perrin Stage 1. Will be running a custom tune towards the end of May.

The cobb AP with a protune is making about the same power as the Z-chip has been advertised but with no problems. I have had my Cobb protune since the first of the year and my X has yet to repeat any of its old kwirks when it had the factory flash.

I'm running the Cobb AP stg 1 91oct map on my X MR and I've had nothing but good things to say about it. After the installed, the throttle response was better, the turbo deff spools more (or sooner or watever, not too mechanically inclined) and the general feel is more solid. I love it and wish I had done it sooner.

Oh 1 negative thing about the Cobb AP... its hard to drive slow now hahah

ECUflash FTW! NO idea why people would spend the money on AP. What a waste.
Got it running my FP Red using factory boost control. Zero problems here!

What about people that travel around the country and see diff octanes from region to region?? Don't really think you could use ECUflash at the pump when you notice its lower octane. Also don't think you could actively log data while running the car anywhere. (Correct me if I'm wrong plz)

Running Cobb AP, Stage 1 93 oct map on GSR. No complaints! Power is much smoother all the way to redline. It doesn't fall on its face any more after the peak. I have Perrin's stage 3 map, but waiting for warm weather to install turbo back exhaust, IC Pipes and FMIC.

Gas mileage is in the toilet (16 mpg) cause my right foot seems to force its way to the floor everytime I drive it.

Cobb AP Perrin Stage 1 93 Octane, on an otherwise stock GSR.
The car's power delivery now is suave across the powerband.

MPGs is pretty much the same as it was with factory tune, yet now driving my car feels more rewarding than before.
