AEM intake ok with AMS base ECU tune?

I have an AEM intake and ams hfc and I am planning on the AMS ecu flash. On their website it says aftermarket intake can damage the engine if flashed??but catback is ok?

Can I still get this tune?

thanks

It depends, but of course you're much better off having the car tuned with those parts. If you're considering doing this you should contact AMS directly and see what they say.

Why not just have it custom dyno tuned?

thanks I might do a custom dyno tuned but all I have is AEM intake and ams hfc so not sure if its worth it. Also you have to use a manual boost controller?

Regardless of your mods I think a custom tune is def worth it. Even with a bone stock X you can expect boost to come on sooner and power increases across the board with peak gains in the 50-70whp range. You don't need to have an MBC, boost can be controlled via the ECU. If you're in IL I recommend giving AMS a call/PM/post in their forum here to discuss your options.
