And I'm not quite certain why you're so interested in lean spool. The Evo X already spools WAY quick with bolt-ons, MIVEC tuning and the stock turbo. How much more is there to gain except more wear and tear on your turbo?
If you would have read the first post you would have realized that this is for a FP RED and DW 1000cc's... not my car.

So you are telling me that the problem is that the scaling is too low? I dont think it is the issue... because I can lean the car out at WOT and have 11.5 that goes 11's at peak HP.

But the spool itself can't go leaner than 12.9 MAP AFR and 11's ACTUAL AFR at spool up.

That's the issue in the original post.

It maybe a issue that his scaling is too low for the 1000cc, but his LTFT's look spot on.

Ditch the attitude, and read my edit It may lead you in the right direction.

His problem of running way rich at WOT has EVERYTHING to do with his injector scaling being off. Possibly in combination with having some other fuel delivery issue. I wasn't even addressing you.

Always remember that even if you have the injector scaling set at 800cc or 400cc, you can still have good LTFT as long as your latencies are set correctly for that scaling. So just because you have good LTFTs doesn't mean your scaling is good.

so what's a good way to tell then? to not have problems i guess haha

Actual AFR (on a gasoline scale in your case) being relatively close to the target AFR values in your fuel map.

That is, of course, if you have a stock-housing MAF as well.

But to the OP... if your desired AFR is 12.9 and actual is in the 11's, your wideband is either not reading accurately, or your injector scaling is off. Plain and simple. If you want to go leaner than 12.9 on spool, that's up to you, but I advise against it.

What we used to do was run constant open loop by adjusting the Open Loop Load and Throttle. Let the engine warm up and cruise around. Keep adjusting the scaling until idle and cruise is mostly around 14.7.

Once that is done, put back to your normal open loop load/throttle settings and start adjusting the latency.

Also make sure you reset your ECU each time you make any adjustments to injector settings. You can easily reset it by unplugging the ECU which only takes like 5 seconds. Unplugging the battery is okay too but it requires tools and you lose your stereo settings.

well good thing i have no issues then. if his wideband wasn't reading accurately wouldn't his idle and cruising afr's be off as well? sounds like a scaling problem to me.

I think the closer your actual AFR's read to your MAP AFR's the better off you are. There definitely seems to be a 12.9 MAP AFR limit from 100-200% load or so which means if 12.9 MAP AFR = 10.9 actual AFR for your setup you are going be stuck with sickly rich spooup. I'm not sure why mine are so close but after going richer on my scaling and disabling the LTFT effect on WOT operation the values are very similar on mine which is really ideal if you can pull it off. You might have to experiment with different combos of scaling and latencies to see which way you need to go to get them to line up better.

5.328
2.808
1.824
1.464
1.08
0.816

Try those. If that puts you way too lean, then you have a fueling issue (fuel pump, fuel pump relay).
I will try this and see what LTFT's I end up with. I experimented a lot with the goal of getting the LTFT's to 0 and I ended up with:

Scaling:
636

Latencies:
5.136
4.392
2.280
1.488
1.080
0.768
0.552

I know that the scaling seems way off, but in closed loop the car had perfect trims. Weird. I'm only interested in bringing my actual AFR's during spoolup to roughly equal the ECU's limit of 12.88.

Thanks for the advice; I will report results later.

So basically if you want to avoid this limit you have to set your injectors close to the actual rating of the injector for your scaling number and adjust latencies from there.

I think so, basically I'm at 650cc scaling on my DW 800cc injectors and for whatever reason the MAP AFR and actual AFR are super close now, especially after disabling LTFT WOT wackiness. For reference before When I was at 665cc scaling and no LTFT WOT disable my maps had to be ~12.0 to get the same 11.5 AFR's because I had to always counter the +3-5% LTFT adding fuel back in.

The same ratio on the 1000cc would be around 812cc scaling but since they are different injectors it might not work out 100% that way. It also probably has to do with me running 10% richer scalings to accomodate the AMS 3" intake.

or if you are blessed and have abundant e85 in your city like me then your 1000cc injector scaling is 650 with LTFT raging between +- 2% and life is *******!

So i assume this is a safety measure with the stock ECU so you do not go too lean.

This only really applies to people with larger than stock injectors. Thus another reason why having injectors scaled in correctly is so important to these cars.

Now to see if there is a way to disable this feature. Because it seems to me like it is enabled on the 08 to have lean spool. Dunno...

as for my case at 3K rpm between 180 - 240 loads, i have to dump alot of fuel (8.8 on high octane map) and actual WB now reports 12.0 AFR and MAFR reports 10.9 . . .

am i doing something wrong or is it my mivec maps ? sounds opposite . . .

i'm on stock turbo & injectors and i can't read my IDC well although with the formulas given here but now i'm using this : 31.25*x*x/1000/1200 and the IDC redaings are really low and weird . . . will post my logs up later on cos now i'm on my other laptop.

TIA for help and advise

ride is 08 mr edm on 53050006 rom id
