My buddy blew his EJ25 on a P&L tune. Now, that could just be because it is an EJ25 . He still goes there so yeah.

Just saying.

You're in the AMS area, and you want to try some one else for a tune?

Just go to AMS..

P&L is closer to me by a long shot... and I'm thinking about renting their dyno to make some runs... but tuning is also an option (protune), based on what I read their "in house" tuner is well known in the Suby community and one of the beta testers for the CObb ap .. thought any of you guys have used them in the past.. but thanks for the suggestions..

Go AMS, they are more familiar with the Evo X especially since they done a lot of track Evo X ready cars already that won competitions.

To the OP, I have been there a couple times and I know the guy that handles the "front desk". They had a RR Evo X (customer/friend of Jorge's) that they used to develop parts (intake, cams, etc) on, and I don't know anyone personally that has gotten a tune there, but I do know that Jorge (the well known Subie tuner you referred to) knows his stuff and he has tuned X's. Another strength is that you are correct, they are one of only two shops that COBB lists as an authorized ProTuner in IL. I've been told their dyno reads within 5% of AMS (for comparison reasons). Call em up, ask for Mark, tell him Jeremy with the PB X sent you and see what they can do for you.

Understandable, I'm in the same boat. Because i have an AP, there are strong benefits to going to them since they're ProTuners, however i have spoken to a couple of guys at AMS and they sounded like they were willing to tune my car using AccessTuner Race if i bought my own laptop in.

Sorry I can't be of more help

People drive from the east coast, to get tuned by AMS. Just because P&L is 30min closer is a bad excuse..

just becaue he can tune a subaru does not mean he can tune a evo x. I had a very well know subaru tunner that had no idea what to do with mivec, and made minimul power on a well stouted X because he made great power on my previous STi.

Just go to AMS.

Isn't GRD near there somewhere too? They have an AWD dyno too.
