tuning help

Hi This weekend I'm going to start tuning my car for my turbo setup. This will be my first time tuning so its going to be a real adventure to say the least. I planned on using the evo x base fuel mapping to get me started. IF that wont work please fill me in. The thing that really has me worried is the timing. Will i need to fool with the timing in order to just get a base tune so i can start doing pulls and logging for a more precise tune? I cant use the evo x timing maps do to the diffrence in cams ( i think ). any help would be great. I do plan on getting a pro tune money is a bit tight do to me paying off my credit cards.

Assuming this is your DD...
If money is tight I'd be careful with tuning. If you do something wrong with that tune or have to turn to the forum for tuning advice, I'd be very weary. It could cost you in the long run... From what I've read if you run the car too lean, you'll damage your internals. If your timing IS off, you'll damage your internals. I've also read some threads on here about people having problems with piston #4, the debate is over a bad tune from factory, a bad tune from tuner, or a bad build from the factory.

The point I'm making is if your not experienced (I'm still learning) and you don't have a lot of money for a professional tune, then you won't have the money for a shop to fix the car if something happens. I'm in the same boat as you, I'm paying down my credit cards but I've elected to not do power mods yet... Be careful and good luck. I know I didn't offer the advice your seeking but I hope the advice helps. At least put some money in savings so that you have a cushion in case something goes wrong.
