Why a serial cable?
Why a serial cable?
Since I have had to order one to use with my WB i'm just wondering why hasn't the tuning moved from USB instead of the old serial cable? I mean my old sony from 95 has a damn serial port.
Because RS-232 communications can be done with a simple chip that the WB uses. It only needs the transmit line and a ground.
To use USB, you would need a more advanced chip that supports USB, along with drivers for your USB device.
RS-232 communications are tried and true for what? 30 years?
