MR with a manual boost controller?
MR with a manual boost controller?
I was reading about how AMS wouldn't suggest having a manual boost controller in an evo MR, and I just got a tune last week while having a manual boost controller. so questions
1. Is it bad for an MR to have a manual boost controller?
2. the evoscan was having trouble reading the boost, do I need to have a gauge inorder for it to read boost?
3. is there any difference in tuning an MR with stock boost controller+boost pill and a MBC?
4. if the question 1 was "yes it's bad" how to fix that mess?
Sorry for being a newb here

1: it's not "bad", it's just not the best solution.
2: evoscan shouldn't have trouble reading boost. upgrade to the latest version.
3: power wise, probably not. electronic boost control is more flexible and safer.
4: your solution is something like http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/e...kit-p-285.html , or the real deal GM BCS, or any other EBCS out there.

I recomend the Grimmspeed 3port. It's not really a mess you have, since it is easy to fix. You can sell your mbc to some Evo 8/9 guy.

It would seem that you should have checked this before getting the tune. A manual boost controller is not a great idea on an MR. They don't really like them. You will probably get away with it with the stock turbo, but it is not recomended. I am to tired to get into all the details as to why.

Yes. All the boost related tables would need to be adjusted for the 3 port, with likely touch up afterward to fuel/timing.
