openport issues

After flashing my ecu tonight on my 08 gts turbo i was wrapping things up and went to unhook the mini usb from the openport. Well it decided after 4 monthed of use it was going to brake at the solder joints for the mini usb and now I'm F-ed. Anybody have any ideas? I was considering swapping to a evo x ecu just so i can tune with cobb but not sure if its going to be worth the wiring headache.

Btw the openport was used maybe 6-7 times owned for 4 monthes and i was fine tuning my evo x rom that i found to work with my setup. I'm a little ticked off that it broke so easy i could see if i was beating on it but i treated that darn thing better then my wife.

idea's,flaming, and laughter welcome.

Pwned.... most people with it in the factory location kick it on the Evo, not sure if its in the same place on the GTS. Its not that hard to open the cover and you could re-solder it, but tactrix might also be willing to replace it for you (not sure if that applies if you crack it open).

If its in the same very kickable location as the Evo I'd recommend a relocation cable.

Not that I would call it "abuse", more normal wear considering location / application... but if I were you I would probably actively take steps to reduce strain on that connection.

yes installing an EvoX ECU will be much easier than just getting a new tactrix cable + OBD2 extension cable (so you dont kick it again)

I would contact colby and see what he can do for you...
