WOW! that is horrible milage! Do some logging and post up some data...im interested in seeing what your LTFT's are showing especially if you are just mainly cruising...I usually average right around 19mpg if im cruising normal freeway driving...I'm very interested in seeing some log data

If you are getting 19 mpg on e85 were you getting 25 on 93 prior?
I was averaging 19 mpg on gas. 19 * .65 = 12.35 mpg which is what we are experiencing. You get 35% less mpg on e85.

You don't just do an equation like that moving to another fuel. There are a ton of factors other then just "35% less".

Proper tuning for E85 can increase mileage.

If you are not getting 19-20 mph with all hwy cruise, then your tune is not optimized for E85.

I'd be sad if I was getting 12mpg even having fun around town on E85. That's sad face mileage.

Edmunds tested a Chevy Tahoe on pump and E85 and got 18.3 mpg vs 13.5 mpg, that is 26.5% worse mileage on E85. The test was on the open road between San Diego and Vegas, city driving will be worse.

Not sure what good comparing a domestic non turbocharged truck with a larger motor to an Evo.

My last post I mentioned the key to getting better mileage on E85.

The point is that you should be able to get reasonable mileage even with E85. On average, cars that have averaged 250 miles to the tank on 91 are seeing 190-200 miles to the tank on E85.

If you are having any issues with the tune feel free to stop by anytime. I am more than happy to help. As many people have mentioned I am extremely busy and we have been having issues with the phone here at the shop.

I have tracked every fill up on my Evo IX and X and I can tell you that 16-19mpg on e85 is absolutely normal for both of them unless I am on track.

Listen to Razorlab, he practically drinks the stuff.

In any case, if you are having trouble with a pro-tune contact the tuner first. Any tuner worth their weight will be more than happy to help or at least explain what is going on.

Ha! I'm pretty sure I'm the only guy here who doesn't drink ethanol.

Fact of the matter is E85 has less energy than gasoline per gallon. Any car, regardless if its a domestic truck or import sedan, is going to be effected relatively the same. And that is right in line with my personal experience on 93 and E85. I was averaging 240 miles per tank on 93 and 170 on E85, under about the same driving conditions. Sorry, but magic tuning is not going to change physics.

I'm not saying you can get E85 to have the same mileage as regular gasoline. I never said that.

I'm saying that proper tuning can give you better mileage then the "norm" when moving to E85.

I'm sorry you where getting only approx 17mpg on gasoline and approx 12mpg on E85. That is real horrible mileage and I can tell you from over two years of running E85 in two of my personal cars full time and tuning for it, I get much better average mileage then you are.

Right, mileage per gallon has a lot to do with the instincs of the right foot. But, I have shown a link where a test was conducted in a fairly controlled scenario that showed 26.5% reduction in mpg. You challenged that. Are we to just take your word for it? Or do you have proof?

I didn't challenge the test. The test I'm sure was accurate. I challenged you comparing totally different automobile/engine/tune Data to an Evo.

I average 16-18mpg on E85 mixed driving, and I have gone as high as 20-21 on all hwy cruise with not much boost.

Here is an image I took last year when I was optimizing the tuning, this is of 17.4 mpg. Some mixed driving, mostly highway, some boost and fun.

Before you challenge that it is a image of my Evo 8, I also get approx the same E85 mileage with my 2010 Ralliart, using the same tuning tactics.

I'm getting 17-18mpg on my self tune/e85. I was getting 20-21 on 91 pump gas. After my first tune with e85 I was getting 15 mpg. Both e85 maps are great for WOT, but now I'm tuned for cruising and part throttle. I drive highway and in town and a lot of WOT when getting on the highway. What AFR's are you logging at cruise/part throttle/WOT?
