'11 GSR better baseline vs '08 GSR

Hi guys,
I’m looking at some dyno runs on stock EVO X posted here, claiming that 2011 GSR has a much better baseline compared to 2008 GSR.

But if I look at the 2 ROMs (let’s consider last stocks for both, i.e. 52680024 for ’08 and 56890010 for ‘11), I cannot see any significant difference:
- the solenoids WGDC maps are exactly equal
- in WOT area, the AFR is the same or even richer in '11
- in WOT area, the ignition timing is the same (some differences in cruising area)
- just MIVEC intake table is a bit more different, but I think the difference in WOT area is not big enough to explain a gain of around 15-20 whp!

And in any case, the Target Engine Load is the same...!
So, where does this additional power come from??

Thanks for your opinions.
Bye

Once tuned they'll be identical, that's what matters. The "stock" 2008 ROM has been tweaked over the years so the one available for reflash from the dealership now is MUCH better than the one that originally came on the car three years ago.

I agree, for sure if you tune them you'll get the same results.
But what I cannot understand is where these 2 stock roms are different, they seem pratically identical in all the tables!

Cam timing affects AFR and airflow.
Airflow and AFR affects power
There are other maps that are also different

ive never seen a 52680024 baseline but im willing to bet its close to 2011

Ill be testing this theory soon :-D

The 2008 had lean spool turned off, the 2010-2011 do not. So it runs leaner and not pig rich like the 2008 did.

That is one aspect.
