Need help isolating an issue!

I searched but couldn't find anything on this, so here it goes.

When I'm accelerating at around 3200 rpms there is a quick jump up and back between 3200 and 4000 rpms before the turbo kicks in.

So basically instead of a steady spool, right at 3200 rpms it jumps up to 4000 and then back down to 3200 then spools like normal.

It just started doing this and I haven't found anything unusual while logging. It's not a serious problem, it's just not as smooth as it used to be.

Has anyone else experienced this? What could cause this since it doesn't appear to be the tune?

Car has 50,000 miles and mods listed below/Cobb AP w/ shelf map. Pump gas (CA flavored :P)

Sounds like your clutch is slipping.

Sounds like your clutch is toast. If rpm's rise abruptly while accelerating and then "grab" as the rev's drop, it's a slipping clutch. The only thing to do to be sure is get the car up to about 30 mph and shift into fifth and go 3/4 to wot. If the same thing occurs consistently, you can determine if it's clutch related.

Good luck!

Thanks guys!

I figured the clutch would be toast soon. 50k on a stock clutch is legendary for an evo x lol.

Next question. Place to get a clutch installed in Nor Cal ?

51k with no signs for a needed change on my last IX's stock clutch. Thats with 4 dragstrip days, 7+ road race days, and a ton of other constant shenanigans with 400hp/400tq.
