How much more power can be had from the X on 2011-2014 models?
I owned a 2008 for a while and i'd like to pick up another if I could see my 2012 WRX, but i'm just wondering... would I be better off keeping what I have? I have a stage 3 set-up, PLENTY of trunk space and about the same crappy type interior as my Evo had lol. On the other hand the Evo's brakes, suspension, engine and tranny strength are well documented.
I honestly have found that I don't drive my car fast very often though and if the '11 and up GSR can run a 12.8 stock, what can a good tune just by itself do for it? My 08 had UICP, LICP, 4" ETS IC, 3 port, Full 3" CBE and intake on it. It was quite fun to drive, but again... is anyone running say a 12.5 with just a tune or perhaps with a tune and exhaust?
I'm thinking that 2014 looks to be the last year for the full petrol engine and it might wind up being worth some money later on... if not, no big deal.
Keeping the WRX would require sway bars, endlinks, better tires, springs, struts. I added stoptech pads to the car, but firewall flex still leaves sucky pedal feel. Still, for 25k, the WRX is an impressive package I will say. I'd like to get a set of brembos from an STI and rebuild them later. All of that stuff adds up to several thousand dollars though.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Opinions on those who might have owned both or know a lot about the WRX at least?

yeah, I really do want to go back... but I want to go back without mods this time... at least not much more than the IC pipes and maybe a DP, but I don't even know if I want that if it's not going to pass emissions... which is why I was wondering with a tune what sort of times that they would run.
I just sold my 09 wrx for a 2011 mr and I love it. It's worlds apart on the handling, and I had sways and end links on the suby. That being said, I drove a gsr also and I can't believe that people pay 36k for those cars! The clutch is mush, and the interior blows! I had it on the highway and at 70 mph it was at like 4500 rpm. Can't imagine if it had an exhaust!
Anyway, I love love the mr but wouldn't trade my wrx straight up for a new gsr.

isn't mr automatic only? If it is, then moving to from a WRX to the EVO who wants a regular stick shift only has the GSR as an option. MR is probably a great car but I love the feel of having to use a real clutch.
It's like no automatic I've ever driven and it makes my wrx feel like a toy.

I prefer the term "automated manual". A traditional automatic comes with a torque converter.

80 is 3900RPM in a GSR, I don't remember 70 exactly but it's something like 3500. The MR and GSR interiors are pretty much the same if you get comparable packages across both (meaning SL package on the GSR). 6th gear on an MR is slightly taller than 5th on a GSR, but the difference is maybe 200RPM at highway speeds. Dunno what to tell you about the stock clutch, mine's holding 400WTQ. The chrome accents on the exterior are hit or miss. Some people like it, some people hate it.
