Repairing evo x in cleveland ohio

Are there any other reputable repair shops near Cleveland besides buschur and switzer? Needing a clutch repair possibly and buschur has a 3-4 month wait time.

I live in Columbus and take a 3 hour drive all the way to my buddy's German shop in Indianapolis for any kind of major work any more. Nothing really in Columbus. Had a few bad experiences with a couple different shops in Cincinnati, and it sealed the deal. So I either do it myself, or take it to him (he did my clutch and MC upgrade). If you just want a direct swap you could always take it to a "non-evo" shop with a good reputation/rating and probably be ok. Its when you get into having them modify things when you see people's experiences go down hill.

okay. meanwhile i found a nice shop that works with a lot of evos and wrx and higher end cars as well and they are about 10 min away. so monday i will be dropping it off to them so they can check it out. they have a dyno as well so they can retune if needed. also while it is there (if the clutch need to be replaced) i was thinking about having them install a new intake as well. car has a complete turbo back exhaust with a down pipe and cat delete, tune, few other things also but still has the oem intake system. would there be a noticeable gain by adding a decent intake onto it? i was thinking about going true cold air intake but a lot of people have warned about sucking up water. and if a true cai would be much noticeable over a reg intake from a reputable company.

FWIW, I had the ETS intake while I was on the OEM turbo and liked it a lot. When you pair an intake with either a cobb or grimspeed 3port and tune it, the difference is pretty big. Intake is really easy to install and it will help you get a little familiar with the car. Probably could get it done within an hour by yourself the day before dropping the car off at the shop. Not sure if you want to pay the shop to do it. 3port is only $100. Buy it with the money you saved by installing the intake yourself Have the shop install it because you 100% have to tune the car for the 3port. Once the intake is in, you will really be able to hear the turbo doing its thing.

You going to "the shootout"? Its towards your neck of the woods in Norwalk.

well i inherited this car from my brother , he passed few months ago so i have no idea who he took this to. but i know for sure that it has been tuned on a dyno. would i absolutely need a tuner for it? or can i just rely on the dyno tune which imo is better?
also i checked cheapest vs tuner from cobb is 500 lol, where are you finding a tuner for $100
i think the ets was one of the ones i was looking at, i eventually want to upgrade the intercooler piping as well

and im not sure. depends on if i have my kid thet weekend and or if the car is done by then. when is it going on?

* nevermind. you were talking about the boost controller

Right, $100 for the 3port boost controller. You may have one on there already.
Here is mine, yours would be in this area with 2 or 3 vacuum lines running to it. If its aftermarket, it would either be a Cobb or a Grimspeed. I was just saying, if you were going to have them retune it, add a 3port if you didn't have one already.

Looks like the shootout is Aug 16th.I might go, but don't think I'd be running my car this time.
