kinloch99 Jul 14, 2008 08:35 PM

nice gains, did you have alky on your 8. ever blow an engine?

DVDee Jul 14, 2008 09:21 PM

Nice gains. But I thought you were running over 30 psi. Why didn't you get it tuned for that?

o-townFLA Jul 14, 2008 09:26 PM

what did Alfred tune with, ECUtek...?

ArchieBabes Jul 14, 2008 09:31 PM

Tuned Via ECUTEK

25-26 PSI of Max Boost on Alky

More Timing Advance instead of 30PSI of Boost.

No Blown Engine on my previous EVO with Alky.

Noize Jul 15, 2008 05:56 AM

Nice gain.

sblvro Jul 15, 2008 06:20 AM

did you run it on the drag strip? I want to know some ET and not just dyno power ratings!

CanadianTSi Jul 15, 2008 07:26 AM

Its amazing how well it holds the power all the way past 7500.

Jooyoung99 Jul 15, 2008 08:28 AM

That things must hall A$$. If you're not doing anything on Saturday, can you bring your car to Mitsubishi Owner's day?

Road Race Engineering is bringing their dyno, and I think you're car would have the most WHP out of all EVO X in socal.

Here is the detail:
http://www.socalevo.net/forum/index....874#msg7363874

And one more thing... this is just my opinion, but most likely you've ran out of fuel at high RPM. I think if you get a bigger fuel pump, you could probably squeez another 40 whp.

ArchieBabes Jul 15, 2008 08:35 AM

Is the Dyno time free?

Extra 40whp with a Fuel Pump and ECUTEK tuning?

Can you explain the gains with just the fuel pump?

How about bigger injectors to accomodate the bigger fuel pump?

Thanks for the info man.

e55nEVO9 Jul 15, 2008 08:39 AM

Didn't you make around 385-390 whp on your 8 with alky on that dyno?

Jooyoung99 Jul 15, 2008 08:41 AM

I'll pay your dyno time, if you bring your car. I just want to see what kind of numbers can the EVO X make with Methanol. I'm glad you're the first one to do it, and not me.

Ask Alfred to show what the Fuel Injector duty cycle was at 6,000 to 7,000 rpm, I'm sure it's maxed out. With bigger fuel pump, you can raise the fuel pressure, and turn up the boost even higher.

On my car, the limiting factor was fuel, not boost. The injectors are pretty good, but fuel pump would lower the fuel injector duty cycle by 10 to 15% (that's what I was told, not sure how accurate that is).

And obviously, you would have to retune the car, but since you've already paid for Ecutek license, retune should be much cheaper.

Not the same dyno.

I had my 8 tuned at Harman Motive's Dynojet.

Sure thing. What time will you be there? And is there a list of cars that will be dynoing that day?

What about just install the fuel pump and just raise the boost with the same tune?

Would that yield in added power?

Do you need to make an appointment from RRE before MOD?

It starts at 10:00 AM. There should be RRE booth in the parking lot. There is no list. It's more of a competition thing. I've sent you a PM with my phone number.

ArchieBabes Jul 15, 2008 09:00 AM

Is their dyno where you take off the wheels and attach it to the Dyno Dynamic Dyno?

I belive this is the high reading Dyno Dynamics Dyno?

Am I correct?

It is the one that you take off the wheels. I don't think it's high reading dyno. Because my base line was 247 whp. And my base line at Tuning Tech was 264 whp. Based on that calculation, your car should read 17 whp lower, but who knows!? I just want to compare it with other EVO Xs. And it's the perfect venue to do so.

ArchieBabes Jul 15, 2008 09:23 AM

Good To Know.

I call you at around 12 PM Lunch Time

Thanks Man.

danielskshin Jul 15, 2008 01:14 PM

nice numbers!

Meth is still just a fuel bandaide, quick short fix. But I do run it on my sc.
rre's dyno is probably a dyna pack which will probably read higher, but a dyno is a dyno f the 15% this x% that.

See your sexy car at mod. Finally get to meet the man himself.

TT's DJ reads about 12% higher than RRE's DP and rre has a X thats putting down 350whp on 91 ;)

ArchieBabes Jul 15, 2008 01:42 PM

^^ Thanks Daniel.

It would be better to compare the gains on the same dyno.

or better yet, track the car and get the ET and trap speed.

evilution310 Jul 15, 2008 01:46 PM

we will se on saturday!

Jooyoung99 Jul 15, 2008 01:52 PM

Awesome!! It would be great to meet all the EVO X owners. We can all go to the Time Attack at California Speedway afterwards.

Come visit me and my car. I'll probably be hanging around at Road Race's dyno booth.

I just got contacted by one of the Organizers of the Dyno Run this comig MOD.

My car will be participating on the Dyno Run event. Best of all its free!

Wish me luck guys.

EvoXstylin Jul 15, 2008 03:25 PM

ARC_EVO Jul 15, 2008 04:54 PM

niiice cant wait to see more evo x pple out there :)

Joe's Evo X Jul 15, 2008 07:59 PM

Aweseom gains. But who makes fuel pumps. Cuz ill have a lot more then archiebabes and i will also be running meth on an aquamist system. I was thinking i wouldnt need a bigger fuel pump as the meth will act like a fuel source. DTM guys testing that dominator turbo up grade and with a base line on a MD got 370 easly with out even touching mivec ect. Nick said there was a lot of fuel left and should easly go to 30psi.

I no vivid racing is selling the modd fuel pump but they want over $300 dollars for it. So ill keep on looking.

The most common dyno that attaches to the wheel hub is a Dynapak. They cannot measure whp since there are no wheels. DynoDynamics do read low if they are not corrected to read higher, way lower than dynojet, a little lower than most mustangs.

Great results on the tune {thumbup} , that is right where I would expect to see the car with 100% meth. Do you know what size nozzle you are using?

ArchieBabes Jul 16, 2008 05:56 AM

I am using the biggest nozzle that comes with the AEM kit.

550 nozzle size I belive.

The tune is awesome, there is instant power everywhere on the powerband.

Mivec settings were also changed, with that it helped the turbo to spool even sooner.

Wow!! I can't believe they are charging $300 for a modded 255 lph walbro pump. I'm getting it done through Road Race Engineering, and I'm not paying any where near that.

Also, I guess meth will act like an additional fuel source. I'm just speculating because the IDC is past 95% at 350 whp@7,000 rpm. There's plenty of fuel at lower rpm, but it does seem to run out at higher RPM.

Right you are. I talked to Nick at DTM and he said with the new turbo he can only get 24psi and i am going to need more then the meth to help me out. He is going to be making so modded fuel pumps so he will be sending me one as well, along with the turbo upgrade and a FMIC. Cant wait. I am hoping to get 30 psi with the meth kit should get over 400 in a MD but will see.

Mightygnu Jul 16, 2008 10:00 AM

I want to see another option besides the Whinebro 255 lol.

DC_TypeR Jul 16, 2008 10:33 AM

^ you will be waiting a while my friend.

-Archie, VERY nice numbers. can't wait to see what you put down at MOD.

Your car is one of the cleanest looking and fastest X's in SoCal.

Thanks Chris. How is the Project X coming along?

It must be a beast by now.

It would be awesome if we can do a Fuel Pump upgrade and a ECUTECK retune at MOD. Compare the gains Vs Stock Fuel pump.

Maybe we can prove the larger fuel pump upgade is a must to boost higher and gains more HP and Torque.

ryan78 Jul 16, 2008 01:47 PM

great numbers archie. now more reasons to see your car up close. hehe

It's coming along great so far, we are on schedule for SEMA, slowly but surely the days are closing in.

Talk to Mike, to see if he can make that happen. He might be able to.

hova00 Jul 16, 2008 08:39 PM

What do cars with those #'s on that dyno run at the track? I think the numbers seem a little low especially for having meth. By the way that is a very nice X that you have.

ArchieBabes Jul 17, 2008 09:02 AM

Bad News guys...

My car cannot make it for the Dyno Run this weekend.

My AEM Water/Methanol pump is leaking, and it will take about 3 business days for the AEM tech guys to inspect and repair the unit.

If only I can repair the unit my self.

I will try and disasmeble the pump today, maybe I can put it special seals round the top of the pump where its leaking.

Do you guys know if there are any speical quick seals that you can buy at auto parts store for methanol?

Thanks.

Mightygnu Jul 17, 2008 09:15 AM

You can try using Goop which can be bought at Home Depot, or just some RTV Silicone.

Oh man! That's a bad news. I was really looking forward to seeing your car this Saturday. Well, good luck with fixing your problem.

{offtopic} Anyone interested in going Kart Racing after MOD? If we get 6 or more people, I can make a reservation at K1.

If I can fix it today afterwork and if it doesn't leak tommorow when I drive the car to work.

Then I can go to MOD and join the Dyno Run.

I will research the best sealant to use for 100% Meth today at work.

Hopefully I can get it resolved tonight.

If I cannot fix it myself, then I have no choice but to return it to AEM for servicing.

Wish Me Luck.

Mightygnu Jul 17, 2008 11:37 AM

Try out the GOOP Archie

ArchieBabes Jul 17, 2008 02:05 PM

^^ Thanks Man

I will get one today at OSH.

I researched it and the best for meth is the Silver or Gray Goop E600

Hope it selas it up preety good.

Jooyoung99 Jul 17, 2008 02:24 PM

Awesome!! Hope this works out for you.

From the pics of the system that were previously posted in the other thread, the pump is made by a company named Shurflo. It's most likely a standard, off the shelf, Shurflo agricultural or automotive diaphram pump with an AEM sticker on it. Shurflo makes several rebuild kits for these pumps that can be ordered over the internet, with seal materials available for many different chemicals.
Do a search on google for Shurflo. Or:
http://www.shurflo.com/pages/new_ind...rial_home.html

Cost on these pumps are normally about $100 over the internet, and rebuild kits are normally easy to come by as well.

Joe's Evo X Jul 22, 2008 04:55 AM

So did you guys ever make it to this dyno day.

Hiboost Jul 22, 2008 05:33 AM

Any ideas on why it's leaking already?

ArchieBabes Jul 22, 2008 07:22 AM

It is leaking on one of the pump output meth line. The 100% Meth ate away the thread seal, and it was loose for some reason.

I bought some Gray RTV for Water pumps, good as new. No more leaks.

Ya that is what i was saying on your other thread that the 100% meth was eatting the seals away. This is an other reason why i am going to run 50/50. But your car must feel like a beast now hu. And plans on takin it to the drag strip or not yet.
