Tuner can't clear P0140 via ECU
My tuner told me that turning off P0140 via the ECU is hit or miss on a 2010. Anyone else not able to turn off P0140 and needed a defouler.

Who pays to fix CEL after tune? Tuner or Tunee?
Let's say you have no codes before the tune and the car has less than 3K miles. You get a tune and the tune causes the CEL to come on. Tuner and Tunee agree the light came on due to tune.
1- Should the tuner provide their services for free to fix the code? 2- Should tuner only be responsible for labor and not parts since this is a hack? 3- Should the tuner not be responsible for anything? This is the tunee problem. |
If your tuner is a stand up person, he would at least scan the car and tell you what's going on. I guess you would have to go from there...

Samething happened to me and my tuner fixed it for free. It depends on what kind of person your tuner is.
|
What's the code? If it's something cause by the tune then it should be easily corrected/disabled in the ECU...in which case the tuner should do it for you.

It is the right section. P0140 is thrown from having a test pipe / rear 02 sensor complaining that the cats aren't working right.
He is referring to getting it turned off in the ECU. You can shut it off without fail on all USDM models. '08 through '10. I'm guessing this tuner doesn't know exactly how to do it right. |
This is the kind of stuff that comes with modding your car. If your tuner won't fix it for you for free, offer to pay for their time to fix it, or learn how to fix it yourself :)
|
If your tuner doesnt fix it for free, walk out and go get a new tuner. Thats what i would do, they just tuned your car for $4xx and you have a check engine light on? No it doesnt work that way.

on the X's is it fairly easy when tuning the stock ecu to elimate those pesky codes you get with a test pipe for example, ie disable the rear o2 sensor/codes?
|
What about the p0137 is that one that can be shut off with a tune too? (heated rear O2 sensor low voltage)

Sounds good as I'm getting tuned at STM next week and I dont want to have any of those annoying codes popping up there-after

Just playing with my own car and looking around at other roms from 2011 and 2010 and do not seem to be able to disable the p0140. Is this the case for 2010 and newer or is there something I am missing?
Thanks -Em |
