Help Getting 2150's Dialed In

1 Attachment(s)
So, after the fiasco with the 1680's acting weird with hot fuel (thanks to Jens@FIC who was EXTREMELY helpful), I now have a set of FIC 2150 injectors. Just got them in along with my fixed FP Black...old one had shaft play after 200 miles but FP was good and fixed it pretty quickly. All seems well right now.

Anyways I'm having a hard time getting these things dialed in on pump. I know it'll be difficult but I feel like some people have done it...if not on the X then maybe an 8 or 9. Right now I'm really focusing on idle and cruise. cruise, is pretty rich, and part throttle in a little bit of boost it leans out a bit but it's kinda choppy and it feels like maybe it's mis-firing.

Right now I'm on 93 and it's pretty important for me to have a 93 tune, but once I get that squared away I will be moving to e85. I'm just trying to get it to be as smooth as possible as I can right now on 93 by myself, my tuner is out of town.

so I tried idle (set to 1000 RPM's due to GSC S2 Cams) in closed loop, and that didn't work out too well. AFR's were all over the full spectrum. I then zero-ed out the open loop tables in the 500 and 1000 rpm cells and tried increasing the targeted AFR in the fuel map to 17 but it still idles insanely rich, like 10.7 or so, but very very steady.

Relevant mods are:

FIC 2150's
Primo 3.5" intake
FP Black
OMNI 4-Bar Map Sensor
Built Head, 2.2L Overbore motor
GSC S2 Cams
Blaqops Double Pumper Fuel System w/ Full-Blown Hanger & Full -AN lines.
Aeromotive AFPR

STFT's are very negative.

One thing I noticed while in closed loop was it would like...be 0, then -1, -2, -3, -4, sequentially, until it hit -12.5, and then go back to 0 and restart again. Kinda like a sawtooth. I think maybe this is because I set my min-IPW to 1.200 via tephra's patch, I don't know if I should go any lower because I don't think these injectors like IPW's lower than that.

Anyways, if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I replied in the other forum, but I have my scaling a lot different from you for pump. It is 1828 for pump.

Did you do tephra's resolution patch?

RazorLab Aug 6, 2011 01:55 PM

Needs less IPW Floor and more scaling like EvoX2NR said.

bandit09 Aug 6, 2011 05:08 PM

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah I did do the resolution patch. I will try the min IPW and inj scaling you mentioned. Do my latencies look okay? Also, did you idle in open loop or closed loop, and what was your rough idle AFR? Also, wouldn't my scaling need to be a bit lower since I'm on a 2.2L and not a 2.0? so, 1828 * 0.90 (10% hit because 2.2L is 10% larger than 2.0L) = 1645?

Sound right?

To tell you the truth, I put one tank of 93 in my car to scale the injectors and went back to E85, so I can't recall everything as far as numbers. I have a nice lopey idle (by choice) so it seems to help balance out my trims... oddly enough.

bandit09 Aug 6, 2011 06:04 PM

yeah I like the lope too. I am def going to go to e85, but I just want a 93 tune too

UPDATE:

increased the fuel injector scaling and also lowered the min IPW...didn't really help idle that much, it did a little bit but it's in the 11's now not the 10's. Part throttle and a little boost it's kinda all-over the place, sometimes I see 13's, sometimes 12's, 11's and rarely high 10's....it gets pretty choppy and like the car kinda bucks back and forth, I think it's probably mis-firing heavily. I would prefer to get part-throttle boost solid and rich and consistent, I just can't figure out why it's all over the place

EvoX2NR Aug 7, 2011 06:35 AM

keep lowering the min IPW... did you ever change your 17.x values back to 14.7 in the idle cells?

tephra Aug 7, 2011 08:03 AM

like I said on EXF:

try:
minipw = 1.128
scaling = 1462 (pump)
latency =
2.19
1.5
0.99
0.705
0.495
0.375
0.315

openloop for 500rpm = 0, 1000rpm = 0, 1500rpm = 40

Also with the minimumIPW what you do is keep lowering it until you find a value where all of a sudden the AFR will become erratic, thats the point at which the injectors no longer reliably spray the correct amount of fuel... With ID2000's we found this to be about 1.112ms, but it will be pretty dependant on injector and fuel temp, so we raised it a little...

Update:

Okay, I've bumped the IPW down pretty low...any lower and I feel like the injectors won't be able to handle it. Thanks for the settings Tephra, I made a nice big data log but I don't think it's logging boost correctly and maybe not load(fuel) because I got into some good boost (maybe 10-15 lbs) perhaps half-throttle or so just to get some data reference points in the log but it doesn't show it in the log file.....but my boost gauge seems to have read it just fine.

I have an OMNI 4-bar and I'm pretty sure I did all the conversions and scaling stuff correctly.

Here is what I have for boost in my Evoscan:

RequestID: 2380871A Eval: (x/4*0.2343)-14.196 Unit: PSIG

Does that look right for an OMNI 4-bar?

Anyways, idle is still in open loop and sits around 11.4 - 11.9 or so....as seen in the log.

It seems to cruise fine most of the time but sometimes I'll notice it'll get stuck in like a 3-second loop where throttle will remain the same but AFR's will go like...14.7, back down to 12.5, then 12.9, then 13.1, 13.5, 13.9, back to 14.7, and then restart all over again. Also I've noticed if I BARELY touch the gas, and hold it there during cruise, AFR's will go extremely rich and not be around the 14.7 or so it's targeted for. Also LTFT cruise is at -12.5%

So really, I don't know what to do to get it to idle leaner. It's a bit weird though because from the little boost I've given it, it doesn't seem to be TOO far off from where it should. Anyways any help is appreciated.

EvoM.net won't let me upload a .csv evoscan file but here it is on mediafire:

Thanks so much guys!

can you swap back to the standard intake while you dial the injectors in?

ill check out the log

tephra Aug 10, 2011 03:42 AM

ok if you look at the log rows between 2800 and 3000 you will see the trims trying to pull out fuel..

I would add 10% to the scaling and reset the ECU then try again...

bandit09 Aug 10, 2011 11:17 AM

I would swap to the standard intake but unfortunately I don't have it anymore :-(

Okay I will add 10% to the inj scaling and try again.

Thanks so much :-)

bandit09 Aug 11, 2011 01:05 AM

Okay so I bumped fuel inj scaling 10% and no luck. I then bumped it another 10% to 1828, reset ECU, and went out, took a big log and LTFT cruise still went to -12.5%. Idle AFR's are still mid 11's. I don't know why it's doing this. Also now it's lean under light throttle below 3500 RPM's or so, and a tad lean (not too bad) under boost, but for some reason evoscan is not logging boost correctly (mentioned this in above post), and apparently I'm not hitting above 90% load according to map tracer. I don't know why it's doing this....but here's a big log I took.

http://www.mediafire.com/?07f0p7zd7yc51zw

That's on a freshly reset ECU and 1828 fuel inj scaling.

Thanks again so much

tephra Aug 11, 2011 03:13 AM

how have you scaled the intake?
