AEM inline controller serial logging

My com 1 is enabled, I am going straight to serial port, my controller is wired correctly, I have made sure i am on the correct pins in the dsub, My green light is solid, but I can not for the life of me get it to work with ATR. Plus the ATR crashes almost every time I try to get the dashboard up. Anyone have any ideas?

Test it with hyperterminal or putty (the puttytel version) using the serial section. The AEM manual has the settings you need.

How does hyperterminal work? What should I see? I set up a new connection through the com1 port and it just goes to a black screen with the flashing courser. I have been reading about a lot of frustration, but I am connected correctly on the gauge side. I have no manual dealing with troubleshooting for this unit. Thanks in advance!!

Man! I get nothing. I got a solid green light on the inline controller, I have ran a jumper ground wire to the battery. I have the gray wire soldered to pin 2 and the ground soldered to pin 5 of the serial connector. My com port works as I use it for an LCD projector. I am using xp, with ATR. I guess im down to the sensor itself??

Do you have the com ports setup correctly on your computer?

I am using com 1, dont know how to set it up any more than making sure it's enabled which it is.

I double checked all connections, ran jumper leads to the battery, green light on the controller is on but I have only seen the red light flash one time. (was told this was the heater circuit) I have looked over all my wiring, made sure the sensor was plugged in and seated in the connector all the way.

When I try to use hyperterminal, it just shows up as jumbled symbols. I unplug the serial connector and they stop so I am assuming its picking up something maybe not?!? I am using accesstuner race software and both on the dashboard and in the log file all that shows up is 0.00 constantly. I am down to pulling the sensor and or trying to get some sort of warranty? which i doubt AEM or MAP will do.

Inputs from anyone would be appreciated, I usually am able to figure this out, but this one has me totally stumped.

Jumbled symbols means that you don't have the port setup right. Check the manual. It should have the settings you need. Like the com port speed.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure if you google it you can find the AEM manual.

Also, please note that there is a thread that looks quite a bit like yours (despite ATR vs Evoscan) and a few other, very related posts:

The inline controller uses a different baud rate than the old AME UEGO.
