Tuners - money in budget for the MR???

I'd like to pick up an MR when available, but prefer to go the safe route and see what the tranny can handle and response from tuners like AMS, etc. However, it looks like most tuners jumped on the GSR to get started quickly, so I'm wondering if any tuners also plan on getting an MR to tune and test, or if the GSR's blew their new car budgets or if they are so similar (other than tranny) that it wouldn't make sense for them to purchase both. If that is the case, we just won't get much info about how the tranny handles modding until those consumers are willing to sacrifice their rides for the rest of us.

I'm in the same boat as you, I really like the MR. It seems like with bolt ons and a tune the X could be look at maybe 400whp I wonder if the MR tranny can handle that.

i believe their was a FQ 360 MR in Japan. But im not too sure if the tranny was upgraded. I know there is an upgrade for the tranny, you can buy seperate for the SST transmission.

Im happy with an MR with Bolt-ons and a Tune , hopefully the tranny can handle it.

We won't know till around the summer when the MR s come out

i just read an article in grassroots motorsports where they tested a pre-production mr and after two autocross runs the tranny overheated and went into some kind of limp mode. i want an mr also, but that tranny scares me.

I'm nervous to throw parts on a expensive car that hasn't even been tested on yet. Hopefully someone will test on a MR.

IMO just go with whats proven... Sure the MR sounds like the cats ***, but no one knows exactly what the deal is with it and its capabilities.

while i'd love to get the first MR on the lot, this is really enough reason for me to be more patient and see how it goes for everyone else for a month or two. But I'd like to reiterate the original question: Any shops planning on getting an MR early on? or at least getting the trans to play with?

Also, has any looked into how possible it is to swap an SST trans with the manual and vice versa? IE: If I got the MR and ended up blowing the trans, I'd be inclined to not replace it with another SST =/

I don't think any tuner is going to be buying an MR for testing, when the majority of EVO owners that modify will buy GSRs, it just doesn't make business sense. I'm sure some tuner would be happy to work on a customers car who is willing to be the guinea pig.

In UK you can get the SST only in FQ300.

HPA had some upgrade for their 2008 VW R32 DSG clutch. I imagine someone will come up with an upgrade eventually anyway. It will require patience until someone figures it all out.
