Buschur Racing's EVO X at Winger Warrior.

What a great day. I love this event.

We brought our EVO X down to Indy this weekend to run in the Winged Warrior Event. We also brought my Subaru TR that I sold to Trevor with us for delivery to him.

The EVO X starts out in Class B, with the parts we have added it moved it into Class A which is the fastest class other than the new Top Gun glass.

First event was the car show for us, you rotate as the day goes on. Not sure how we did but I think the car looked great. We took our prototype pipes off the car and put on all our new polished SS pipes and filter kit, etc. The stance is awesome with the KW coil overs.

Next up was the autocross. I have only ever autocrossed one time in my life before this. My first time was a 1.02, watching a lot of the other cars come in slower made be feel pretty good. Next run was a 1.01. I thought at that rate I could get the car into the 59's and that would be really good. Next run the ASC was fighting me and in the middle of a high speed section I was trying to hit the button which made me miss a gate and I ran a 1.003 but got a DNF from not running the course correctly. I was determined to run a 59 on my fourth and final try. I missed it but ran a 1.003 again. As I was leaving the autocross area I was stopped by two of the "officials" and congradulated for being #1. I was so freaking happy. Then when I got to the drag staging lanes I saw a black EVO 8 come in and noticed his car had A on the window too. I remembered him running a 58.xx. I asked him and sure enough, he ran after my 1.00 and did manage a clean run of 58.xx. So, I felt disapointed but being this was my 2nd ever autocross 2nd wasn't too bad. It took hours for them to post the times and when they did my last time had 1 cone added to it, 2 seconds. I kept my mouth shut but I am sure I did not hit a cone, I had 4 guys watching me and one video taped the entire run from atop the timing trailer, I did not hit a cone. Whatever, the event is for charity and it wasn't worth the hassle to review the tape and whine about it. I'm happy with how I did. Great freaking fun.

Then came time for the drags. Previously I had made 1 pass in the car that resulted in a 13.4, I smoked the clutch and gave the keys to Trent. He has run a best of 12.66 at 111 mph in the car.

I told the guys that were there with me if I could run a 12.9 I'd be happy. First run 12.91, then 12.89, then 12.91 again. We then went into eliminations where we had to race another Import car (I was in the Import Class). The first round I got an EVO8, I ran a freaking amazing 12.62, the quickest the car ever went. BTW, my MPH was limited to 109 mph, I was on the rev limiter in 4th LONG before the end of the track each time and just held it there. I will have to raise it through the tune. The next run I had to race a Porsche, I thought he was slow but wanted to make sure I tree'd him regardless as that is a huge difference in heads up racing. I staged the car and put it on the two step. The starter waited a long time and I wasn't going to lift, the clutch jumped/engaged with my foot still to the floor just enough to cause me to redlight, I ran the car the full pass anyway. I went red by -.07 seconds, I lost but still ran another new best of 12.61 at 109 on the revlimiter again.

I ended up not winning a thing but I sure did have a great time. It was nice to get back in the drivers seat and find out that I can actually still drive when I have to.

The car performed flawlessly. We drove it there full of luggage and two guys, got 26.6 mpg going to Indy. Not a single glitch with the car.

I want to thank the guys who run the Winged Warrior event for putting on a great event again this year.

I also want to thank all the guys that were there, Jarrod, Trevor, Shamus, Mike, Travis, Jim and Jeff, thanks for being there, thanks for letting me just be a friend and hang out and not the guy doing tech questions

Also, congrats to Trevor who took 3rd place in Class B in the drags and autocross in the Subaru TR.

Great times, great event, great guys and great car!

I had a great time as well. My car is stock other than a Greddy catback and Eibach springs. I managed a couple 13.2s and I kept getting quicker every pass. I think with a little more practice I can get her into the 12.90s as is....not too shabby for 3850lbs with my big ***. BTW...they gave Trevor my drag trophy...I beat him on a hole shot 1st round and then went another 2 rounds into the Import finals where I redlit...but it is for charity so I'm not sweatin it.

The auto x was laid out great I thought. I was in the B class and ended up with a 59.52. I think there were only 2 cars on street tires that managed to jump under 1 minute....the other was an STU EVO 8 in the A class. I was pretty happy to run like this on the stock Advans.

Good day!

when actually some one start raising the rpm limit in the X? I truly believe the engine is good for high rpm's. And not just because the bore or the time chain etc. I think in the future the X will make more power with rpm not just always the bigger turbo.

Sorry.

Congrats for the event !! This summer i'm sure the X will prevail !

Sounds like the event was alot of fun. I would be nice have something lilke that where Im from without having to drive for ever lol. Ok and I agree with Robevo, a little 500-1000rpm bump would be nice if it is safe for the car.

Congrats Dave. I guess you were wrong when you said you couldn't drag race.

This is what concerns me. I have told Mitsu and my service manager that the damn clutch is dragging, that is what is causing the notchy shifting. I would be real interested to see if an aftermarket clutch resolves it, or if it's a master cylinder issue.

Dave, please report whenever you do replace the clutch as to if the clutch dragging problem has been resolved. I know how you feel about ACT and I have the same feelings, however I am concerned about putting an Exedy in as they are the manufacturer of the damn OEM clutch that works like A$$.

I will not use an ACT ever again. When I get a clutch in the car I'll do a write up on what we use and how it works.

The stock clutch smells like hell but it is working decently again now.
