You shouldn't need bigger injectors yet unless your running an upgraded turbo. The stock injectors on our cars are 650cc I believe and are supporting 400whp+. I remember reading a thread where they thought it was injectors at max duty cycle meaning they were maxed out but after changing the fuel pump the IDC went back down to something like 80%. I'd upgrade your fuel pump first then if you're in need of more injector proceed from there. What mods do you have where you think you're needing more fuel already? These cars run stupid rich from the factory and tons of people are on stock fuel pump/injectors with full bolt ons and untuned running plenty rich still where their cars need to be leaned out to a normal AFR still. ~Trent

Yes, I'm planning on sending in my turbo for upgrade and the company sugested on bigger injectors to take full advantage of the turbo upgrade. But your suggestions sounds good...Do you know if there is Walbro or other pump that wil fit on the stock location?

I don't believe there is a bolt on pump yet but the walbro GSS342 does work with some modifications. I have it on my car and yes it helped with the high injector duty cycle.

rumor has it that RC Engineering is going to come out with bigger injectors in about 2~3 weeks. Bigger injectors would be a necessity if you plan to run E85...

well, injectors and pump of course. No idea about direct bolt-in pumps tho.

Actually I had seen on here in several places where it has been said that the X comes with 650's, but I just recently read somewhere else (I will have to try and remember where, but it was a Mitsubishi statement) that it comes with 550's which of course are the same as the VIII and I think the IX. Anyway, that could explain why some tuners are having to go with the pump to support reasonable IDC's with simple bolt on's. Maybe one of the reputable injector companies can flow a stock set to see.

Walbro 255 have been fit with mild modifications to the housing on a couple X's I know. Are you doing the 20g wheel upgrade in the stock housing or something different if you don't mind my asking. I talked with a gentleman last night who works on those 20g conversions into stock housings and the price is definately affordable and well worth it in my opinion. I'll be doing one in the next couple months I'm sure after tuning software comes out (opensource) ~Trent

Yes, I'm doing the full upgrade compressor wheel, shaft and the exhaust side too, correct me if I'm wrong (Im not two sure if I'm confusing the exhaust with the intake .
I'm thinking of using force performance, given in consideration of there succes with the Evo IX turbine. Who are you planning to use?

Actually I called them a few hours ago and they explained to me that they do have some bigger injectors for the X. But they ask me for photos of my fuel rail becaause they think I will need some spacers.

if you have not yet completed the standard bolt-ons i would suggest doing this first before a turbo upgrade as you will need all of this supporting mods to get the most out of your current turbo and the turbo upgrade later on. as for the OP its nice that you are upgrading your turbo. it would be very helpful to the community if you will do a dyno comparison.

I read this too. I believe it was in last months Turbo Mag. The article about Tomei tearing down the 4b11. They said something about 550 or 560cc injectors.

If a company like Tomei says that they flow 550cc then you have to wonder if they are not correct. It sure would explain why some of the tuners had to go to the Walbro to support bolt on's.

RC Engineering has my injectors and my stock fuel pump.

They are flow testing both.

RC should have something out shortly.
