AMS EVO X to Compete against the best!
AMS to compete in the Sport Compact Car Ultimate Street Car Challenge
I’m sure most of you are familiar with the annual event put on by Sport Compact Car, the Ultimate Street Car Challenge or “USCC”. It's a very widely known event over 8 years in the running. The event pits 10 selected cars against each other in a bevy of events including: Braking, Acceleration, Road Race, Emissions, Dyno Shootout and Drivability to name a few. The event has really evolved over the years; SCC has made the USCC a barometer for what defines a true street car.
This year SCC choose our EVO X to compete. This invitation has given us a reason to really accelerate our program forward in regards to producing parts for the EVO X. Of course the current AMS catalog is going to be implemented on the car but also a bunch of really cool new pieces are being developed….like a prototype AMS EVO X turbo kit for example :GASP:
We have also been able to get some fantastic support from outside companies to help not only develop product on the car but improve our chances at the competition.
Stoptech came on board with a full set of their prototype big brake kit for the X, including 6 piston front and 4 piston rear calipers. Endura-Tech spent a few days at the track with us dialing in there soon to be released monotube coilovers (that ROCK by the way). In addition Buddy Club USA helped us trim the fat on the X by donating a set of their P1 Limited seats. You will be hard pressed to find a seat that is as comfortable, supportive and price friendly as a P1 Limited.
Vibrant Performance, VP Fuels, RC Engineering, Enkei, Exedy Clutch, Tial and Mitsubishi have also all joined the AMS team with parts and insight to help us finish up our entry into the USCC. Without any of the above support making this event happen would of just simply NOT BEEN POSSIBLE.
This car is being built just one month before the competition begins; still we have high hopes for this event. We actually assisted our customer and friend Tommy Passalacqua (ferrarokid) in this event a couple years back with his Red EVO VIII. Taking what we learned from the 2005 USCC we are confident we can bring a very competitive car to the table.
So enjoy the pictures below of our EVO X being built for the USCC.
Wish us luck….the event begins the first week of August!
Here are some pictures outlining the build of the car. Some of the really cool parts donated by our sponsors and even some AMS prototype stuff that might actually make its way into production...like our fuel surge Tank and fuel rail.

Now the really cool pictures. For this event we are pulling off the stock turbo and hope to be installing a one off custom kit on the car. During the build process however the engineers were able to come up with one HELL of a header design. The below pics outline those drawings and even showcase the rapid prototype plastic header that we made to test fitment. If all goes well you can expect a cast based kit in the near future.
this will not be on the car for this event but its pretty exciting stuff for EVO X owners everywhere

We will of course keep you posted on all the events activities as much as we are allowed to.
Wish us luck! I think we might be going against a new R35

I would put about 500 miles on it and then work through our stages. Shoot me a pm or email at Eric@automotosports.com and we can talk about it further.

Good luck guys, and man what a badass header! Will this be for a stock oriented turbo location or a relocated/rotated setup? I only ask because even though this is going to be for an upgraded turbo it would be great if it also fit the stock turbo. Plus, if it fit the stocker thanit would also fit all of the blouch and fp stock based turbos, which would be great.
