Transfer case trashed after 3500 miles on STOCK GSR. Why?
Stop blaming Mitsubishi, it's not just them. It's every car company.
I took my car to the Porsche Owners Club Event last weekend, and I had the 5th fastest lap time 1:16.5 at Streets of Willow. And only reason I took my EVO to a Porsche event was because I needed to replace the bearings on my rear drive shaft on my Spec Boxter.
You just can't beat the EVO in terms of bang for buck.
But sorry to hear your problem. That happened to me on my EVO IX after 7,000 miles, but I think it was because I didn't use proper fluids and too harsh clutch.
Here are pictures:

Awesome pictures....I'm impressed that your car can change colors too!
Back on topic: Actually, Honda, Nissan, Infiniti are pretty good about warranty repairs as well...I've never had any problems with them. I really don't understand why the dealerships would be in any way resistant to warranty repairs....this is how they make the majority of their money. And to the OP, all you did was drive the car it was meant to be driven, so from what you wrote I believe it was just a normal defect. The first 6-months of a new model statistically have a higher default/repair rate then any other 6-month span in a car's manufacturing life-cycle... just too many pieces coming together from multiple lowest-bid suppliers from around the world under tight deadlines and even tighter budgets.

I had some warranty issue on my old S2000 and 350Z.
Basically, dealership wants to do the work, but the factory won't cover the expenses. So don't blame the dealership, blame the factory...
I'm not saying that Mitsubishi is the most reliable car, but they are not the worst either. And I think the worst warranty support goes to Porsche closely followed by Lotus.

LOL tire wear on an EVO = Racing = No warranty?
Thats like someone giving you an unconscious Jessica Alba and telling you to keep it in your pants... simply !possible
Just tell the dealer that you swapped wheels with someone else... what the F can they say?

Wrong. My Pass front tire was corded after 12.5 k miles. The other three were fine. Alignment check showed pass front .24º toe out from the factory.
I hear the first question the dealership gets when talking to corporate to get permission to do warranty work is: Has the car any mods? They have to tell them the truth. What can they do?
No matter... pretty easy to go back to stock if you need to take it in... unless you have a bigger turbo or some crazy internal work - in which case you should not care about the warranty anyways...The only issue i can see is having an after market flash for your ECU and then reverting it back to stock to take it in for warranty work - in which case I have heard that mitsu has the ability to tell that you are not on your first flash. In which case they might argue that you messed w/ the ECU and all is lost... obviously they would have to prove that the ECU tuning caused the issue - but that is irrelevant as they will make your life hard in the process.... I am waiting to find more info on exactly how and what they can detect... cus if they can only detect that you have had "N" number of flashes - that does not prove squat as you could claim that another dealer flashed it back to stock as it was misbehaving... now if they could somehow get to the details of your flash... you might be in hot soup... but that only time and bold experimenters who dont include me can tell...
God dammit will all the soon-to-be new Evo X owners read up a little on the forums before they buy. There's an entire thread dedicated to warranty issues and many more dedicated to Mitsu being stupid.

my 07 GTI was very modded (including chipped, FMIC, DP, coilovers, sway bar, DV) and I had everything always covered under warranty, including all suspension problems replaced with coilovers on, CEL's, blown EGR valve while chipped. They ALWAYS took good care of me because they knew that everyone would reccomend buying/servicing a car through that dealership if they were cool to everyone. So, just saying, it's NOT every car company.
At the end of the day... Ill take solace in the fact that there was more adrenaline pumping in my blood thanks to my evo
