Exedy's twin plate series is already out in Japan. I believe the HKS LA Clutch is also out here in Japan.

I've had twin plate clutches in 2 of my previous cars and yes they were noisy. The discs make a metal chatter sound when you depress the clutch pedal. Once they are engaged they make no noise, it's only when you disengage the clutch (depress the clutch pedal).

I've never owned a carbon twin plate clutch so I don't know if they make any noises but the metal twins always did.

Carbon ones make a little noise. The Carbonetic gets rid of the pull type and converts it to push type though which is more reliable and better feel.

Do this units last longer? Or the same, they just provide more clamping force??? Thanks.

they usually have less clamping force, its the increased surface area that holds the added TQ

Well they usually have more clamping force than stock but not as much as a monster single clutch (which is easier on the bearings at start up anyway). The carbon ones last a LOOOOONG time. Never actually seen one wear out.

I've never worn out my twin metals either, I would assume since there is more contact area and less slippage, the discs last longer.

When it comes to installing the clutch itself, it doesn't make much of a difference whether it's twin or single. They usually come with a dummy shaft or guide so it's easy to align. The time consuming portion is the actual removing/installing of the transaxle, I've helped on a Evo 8 before and it took about 4 hours. Never tried on a Evo X but I hear it's just as time consuming.
