intercooler painted black safe?

Question intercooler painted black safe?

Ive stenciled my intercool beofre but no problems so far now Im thinking of painting the IC all black...is that going to be a problem or screw up any performance?

Depeding on how thick you lay it on, Paint will reduce the efficiency of the core. I think the proper way to do it is to get it Annodized.

I thought about this also and like they said paint can insulate.

Note that every ding that knocks off the paint will look really bad, bright silver against black.

You will spend alot of time repainting.

Even anodizing can be damaged, most likley not worth you effort.

I don't think it's a good idea. Just like the other posters said, painting it will reduce the efficiency of the core because it reduces the surface area available for cooling. Paint itself is also not as conductive as metal and will insulate heat. Lastly, black is the most absorbant of all colors and will keep your intercooler hot in the sun. Keeping it silver looks pretty clean!
