Swap 5 spd into MR????
Why don't you just spend your money on track time and suspension. In time, someone will come out with solutions to the problems. In the meanwhile, you still have a pretty potent car in stock form. Seat time, and improved suspension would make you and it a more potent weapon.
THe MR is becoming my daily driver and I will be picking something else up for track duty maybe a GSR. I assure you come next spring I will be spending plenty on track time and suspension mods 
I did the One Lap of America in 2006 and got second in class. I plan on buiding something up over the winter and plan on entering it again in 2008. Hopefully we can pull off a first this time around.
