TWM Short Throw Shifter
TWM Short Throw Shifter
Just want to give a little review incase anyone is interested...
I ordered the short throw shifter from TWM and installed it today. I got the kit with the aluminum base bushings and I also ordered the AMS underhood shifter bushings. Installation instructions with pictures are included with the kit and it helped to have them printed and sitting right there while I installed it. Installation was pretty easy and straight forward, and it fit perfectly.
I'm very happy with how the shifter performs as it has quite a bit of a shorter throw than stock. Along with the aluminum base bushings and underhood AMS bushings, I guess the best way to describe it would be that the shifts now feel very crisp and precise. When you shift to another gear, it just feels nice and tight and exact. Along with the shorter throw, the knob now sits right in the middle of the center console, instead of off towards the passenger side, and it no longer feels like I'm reaching to the floor when I shift into 5th, which is nice
There is a little increase in shift effort, but nothing unbearable, and it's certainly easy enough for everyday use. It may not make a huge difference, but I do feel as though the shorter throws allow me to shift a little quicker than when it was stock. It didn't get rid of the occasional notchy shifts, but I don't think that has anything to do with the shifter itself.
Overall I'm very happy with how it turned out, and it looks much better now with the shorter shaft that doesn't stick up so far.
