Until I see a MAF fail personally, I refuse to believe that there are rampant MAF sensor failures with this car.

What I do believe is that sometime CEL codes can reference the MAF, but I do not believe the MAF is the underlying issue.

I have had all of these codes and symptoms as well, here is a small video that I did but I did not get a chance to catch it holding at 2000 rpm. It seems to only do the holding at 2000rpm or higher thing when I have just got done rippin on it a little bit.But hey check out the vid of my car going into limp mode

I'm 100% sure that there are MAF issues with these cars. On a car that got P0102, I tried everything from resetting the battery, flashing the ECU back to stock, you name it...still had a 2000rpm idle and ran lean while driving.

Swapped out the MAF for another one, and the car was cured.

That said, I just installed a BOV and allowed it to VTA. Since then, I've been getting this CEL like crazy, and the car goes into limp mode where I can't break 20mph...CEL 1235.

Caused by a faulty maf sensor which trigger the other two related to 02 sensors. i only have 4500 miles.
once you swap the maf with a good one all 3 codes go away.

my local dealer is giving me hell just to warranty. which is nothing new from what i experience from them on my last warranty and purchase experience. i cringe every time i think about taking my car in to mitsubishi.
Be glad your mitsu service department isn't also Ford, lol.

Since I've swapped to a UICP, I've gotten a couple P1235's to go with my normal P0137 (from the HFC).

I tend to agree, except in cases where you get a maf signal too low code. I don't recall the codes at this point, but there was Guy on here I helped a while back. He had a maf code (singal too low I think) and several 02 related codes (sensors 1 and 2 too rich or too lean) but I don't think he was throwing the trustfull checks codes, P1235 / 1238.

The above case did turn out to be a bad maf (it got banged around under the hood because he did an aftermarket intake with no support bracket so the maf was flopping around.

For the most part, my observation has been that P1235 is due to undershooting the air flow checks tables while P1238 is most often due to overshooting the air flow checks tables.

I would say if someone is getting a signal too low code on the maf and either too rich or too lean codes for the 02 sensors, it would be time to look at trying another MAF. If it's just the P1235 or P1238 then it is purely a tuning issue.

i got "p1238 map sensor plausibility (torque)" today. the car had no power and then i pulled it on the side of the road. after the car being off for a minute i started it back up and it ran fine. the light stayed on until i cleared it.

I got the P1235 twice yesterday after being tuned. I don't think it's a MAF problem but instead an overboost CEL.

I pulled the p1235 code the other day. I have been noticing a big time loss in power in higher gears at part throttle. I did some hard cornering one night and the next day I noticed what seemed like a whooshing sound under the hood, as if I had a boost leak. I was thinking this whole time I've had a boost leak because of the loss of power, but I have been able to get some good 1st gear pulls.

So do most of us who are getting this code have an AP? I haven't been able to get rid of the limp mode since this all started. I started getting it with my stage 1 map, then I uninstalled the AP to take it in to the dealer (who of course didn't find anything, but this was before I threw the code) and was still getting the noticeable power loss. I have the AP back on in stock mode so I can datalog. Can the dealership detect the AP in stock mode?

My car is going back in this next week for a broken hood latch, and I will try to find out what this other limp p1235 issue is...

Those codes can be resolved by adjusting your Airflow Check and Torque Limiter tables through your ecu. If anyone has any questions, feel free to p.m me.

These codes are not relevant to a faulty maf.

whoever tuned your car should have resolved this problem. It should be one of the first adjustments when "upping" the boost. It is in fact an over boost cel.

does anyone know if the maf can cause a P0137 code? The car has been properely tuned and even has two non-foulers, CEL comes on whether i have the foulers on or off. Cars performance is fine and never goes into limp mode. Help?!
