Evo ECU

how do i reste my ECU? also after i reset it how does it reprogram? anyone that can help would be great

to reset your ecu, you can just unhook the - cable to your battery for 15 secs. It reprograms itself!

If you're trying to clear codes in the ECU the battery trick might not work! The ECU keeps some memory until the items are cleared by a scanning tool or if certain parameters are meet.

Example: If you have a check engine light due to a smog related issue, pulling the battery cable may clear the check engine light but a smog station will see the error code as soon as they plug their obd scanner in. If you pull the battery cable and drive the car under certain conditions and parameters and the car doesn't cause the check engine light to come back on...the ECU will automatically erase the error code, unless of course the car triggers it again.

Both statements are true. I know when I disconnect the battery. The car idles funny until it learns again.

actually it clears all the codes. Smog stations will check to see if the monitors are complete... disconnecting the battery turns the monitors to an incomplete status; therefore failing emisions.
