What to do first...

My Friend just bought a white Evo X. he want to keep it as stock looking as possible... What I want to know is what he should do... he wants to get the AP instead of ecuflash, what intake? Ets's stuff looks very promising from what the thread has! I'm just looking for a starting point.
Thanks
Cory

AP stage one works great on a stock car, and will yield the highest gains per $ (not just the AP but a tune in general).

Currently with base AP maps it isn't advised to run an aftermarket intake.

Boost Controller and Intake

Best bang for the buck on the evo period. I don't think any other combination of mods get you this much horsepower for this cheap.

Thanks!

Well I know how to tune evo 8-9 but..the X looks a lot more complex... is that graph just bolt on and go or with tuning?... I have already leaned it out to 11 flat across the board.

Does this include a tune as well or is it making that much power without a tune? More info please. Also I clicked on the your link for the evo X stuff and did not see this combination of intake and boost controller? How much is that combo?

forget the intake just get a boost controller and set it up to 24 psi, you should be okay without a tune, but obviously you're going to gain more power with one.

Best mod for the buck is e85, you can get an additional 60 whp by just replacing your fuel pump and injectors.

Good luck

UR intake. Then save up for the O2/downpipe and exhaust. The intake will lean it out some as well as increase ignition timing since the car won't see as much load. I use ECUflash. Every bit as good as the AP and a fraction of the cost. If you have someone on your area that does ECUflash tuning even better.

AP is overrated, get ECUtek or ECUflash instead. That's your best bang for the buck mod by far. Intake and exhaust will help her breathe a bit, so they'd make good first mods too if you don't want to completely void the warranty.

ECUtek is even more overrated than the AP. It will soon be obsolete just as it is in the Subaru community. At least the AP can be sold off to recoup a majority of your initial cash outlay. With ECUtek, AFAIK you can't do that.

What is the max the boost controller can be set to? It looks like 22psi but is that correct?

No intake. It's not needed with simple bolt ons. You could get an intake filter, and that will set you up for a while. HKS, K&N, Works, Ralliart, etc...

I would then go with a catback, and get a tune. AP is fine, but would recommend a custom tune on the dyno....EcuTeck, Ecuflash, etc...

This will net you great back for your buck!

If you want one more thing, get an Upper Intercooler Pipe...AMS, ETS, Nisei, are all good pipes....

This will get you good reliable horsepower with no issues!!
